The back 3 wasn’t the problem. His refusal of being tactically flexible was an issue. His OOP set up was shocking and was too stubborn to change or adapt to suit the EPL.

I think Amorims back 3 helped Casemiro, and our slow defenders like Maguire out, also shaw was good at left cb, Amad suited that system, and players we bought such as Dorgu, Cunha, mbeumo. Just never backed with the CDM he needed and proper wing backs.

The current Manchester United squad resembles one more suited to a back 3.
