This way, I only buy eggs that don’t have an egg producer license because I am the producer. I have my own 30 chickens and we bless our neighbors and whoever visits us with free eggs because 30 chickens lay more than enough.

The egg license number is for the wholesaler/grader. The individual farms don't need licenses in Texas. Complaining about this is like worrying that all your amazon packages come from the same warehouse.

Vital Farms are in TN and two other locations. Their chickens eat off the land. They graze and eat the good stuff - greens, bugs, etc. On each box of eggs they have a link to a webcam where you can see the chickens where your eggs are from .. watch them grazing. Cool!

Yes, I hear you. But it’s it possible for one company to have their chickens lay eggs in different situations with the same address? I don’t know enough about this, but you cannot necessarily assume that all the poultry coming from that address is treated the same.

The illusion of choice

I prefer my method of egg shopping.... send a text "Need a couple dozen" and within a few hours they appear in my fridge. Oddly enough, a couple beers are often missing from the fridge after, as well as any super tasty food!

Different brands will have different feed specifications for the egg farm, and the eggs will be different, even from the same farm.

You can do the same with milk and dairies.

Something has changed over the last year with eggs I have never had a rotten egg in the house before and this year we have had several cartons have a rotten egg in it! Shells are getting thinner and thinner too!
