I never see Zard run hurricane. And I dont know why because it's so broken when youre backed into a corner with STAB and rain 100%. Every Sableye in the world uses rain dance when they see zard. Also shoutout to my Luxray. I love her so much❤️❤️❤️

@LinkStain Because it’s a near useless move in every other matchup except for specifically Rain. Your own Drought makes Hurricane 50% accurate in Sun.

I carry 2 megas for this reason. If I dont anticipate needing hurricane then I bring my Scizor instead.

@LinkStain I ran it but never found cause to use it. Tried weather ball too but in the end I’ve found heat wave, solar beam, scorching sands and protect more useful

That's fair, I found solar beam to reliant on my own weather condition. At least with hurricane I get STAB. I have yet to see any mons live it that are not resistant to flying.

@LinkStain Also fair, I’ve not been using them as much anyway recently. I find that having it listed first in my team makes people prep to counter it and then I go the other way and counter their counters - like water and trick room to counter Aerodactyls etc

@LinkStain still better bat solar beam i guess. idk how many time i ohko a zard with my primarina bysetting rain with meowstic and they always lock themself in solar beam without doing damage.

That's what Luxray is for. Luxray will 1 shot your primarina.

@LinkStain Its a cool tech but Charizard doesn't really want to give up any of its usual moves. Heat Wave, Weather Ball, Solar Beam and Protect are all very essential and it can't really afford to drop any just to make its Rain matchup better

@LinkStain I get the logic but on the other hand you’re giving up a move slot most of the time to a move that zard y hinders itself I would rather just have a different way of dealing with rain or focus on positioning zard well. Don’t get me wrong it’s good ladder cheese though!

@LinkStain I don't think you can call it Broken Zard runs Heatwave, weatherball, solar beam, and protect for a reason It's a solved movepool In this team, you're really fighting an uphill Battle with the Luxray. They're cool, but it's a physical electric type Solar beam is just more useful

@LinkStain Well, because most rain teams don't rely on Meganium. Also means, you either have no protect, no actual water counter move or no Weather Ball. Also, alao...always depends on your team. If you actually have a good water counter, you can obviously just ignore Solarbeam.

@LinkStain I am simply answering why Hurricane is not used as much. For your team it might actually make sense. Another reason is...it's really just a rain counter. Outside of it it's a 50% move as soon as you go mega ;-;

@LinkStain It can depend. Despite not liking Zard myself, I actually ran one in the Indigo Disk, with a Hurricane-Temper Flare setup. Made it a mixed attacker so if Hurricane missed, I can swap over to Temper Flare for extra damage.

@LinkStain This is how I use my Charizard Y right now. A water type Zard Y. Hurricane + weather ball in the rain is unstoppable. But it face the same problem. Too frail to use and it adds more weakness. It's a gamble to use in rain, especially now with basculegion is in the meta right now.

@LinkStain It’s so much fun in CTS, people never anticipate it. It’s mostly fun when you can accurately predict when a opp will bring in the rain. I ran it for a majority of April, and a little bit of May.
