@gecffmn If you happen to have an IQ above your shoe size, you'll be up to date with technology. The diesel engine only starts if the charging unit's batteries drop to a certain voltage. This is a precaution so people aren't stranded. Dumb people still exist in 2026.

@gecffmn That’s interesting didn’t realise it was for backup, a few years ago there was a couple of place across the Nullarbour plain that I’m pretty sure had no Grid access for charging stations so they solely used diesel generators, & the anti-EV mob loved pointing it out.

@gecffmn Generators like that are efficient. More efficient than a gas car. I remember someone in Australia setting up system like that for all his neighbors with EVs and finding the fuel economy of running the generator 24/7 to charge the EVs worked out to about equal to a diesel car.
