An Open Appeal to HE President Emmerson Mnangagwa 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼 HE President of Zimbabwe President of Zimbabwe ✅As your friend for 24 years I have been inundated with over 20,000 messages worldwide regarding this matter of the young journalist in the video below attached (Blessed Mhlanga) , yet I am still not fully aware of the events that led to his arrest. ✅As an African elder, a veteran investigative journalist—having served as an Africa Consultant for Sky News—and a member of the Commonwealth Journalists Association London Chapter, as well as an international law activist, I feel compelled to speak out. ✅ I write this letter as an appeal to my esteemed elder and friend, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa, to put an end to the menace of threatening journalists. ✅Such actions not only undermine press freedom but also cause deep distress to those of us who defend Zimbabwe’s image globally. ✅The rule of law exists to ensure that all professional work, including journalism, is conducted within the framework of legal protection and ethical responsibility. ✅Silencing journalists through intimidation contradicts these principles and damages Zimbabwe’s standing in the international community. ✅ Your Excellency I seek your indulgence in this matter as my Elder friend for 24 years Mr. President, to uphold the values of justice, freedom of expression, and press protection. A nation that respects its journalists fosters transparency, accountability, and true democracy.
