The Digital Equity Act provide 3 grants to federal fund studies by the state. In the title of all 3 grants is the word equity. Nothing is said about laptops. Knowing that the word equity is there is your answer.

The NDAA we voted on today is a good bill. It removes funding for transgender surgeries, provides pay increases and greater healthcare benefits to our service members, and defunds all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs. Unfortunately, it still includes funding for Ukraine. Kevin McCarthy asked that I sit on the Conference Committee to negotiate final bill text with the Senate. I will work to make sure every single penny for Ukraine is removed, or I’ll be a no vote when it comes back to the House.

Jayapal: It is an increase in ICE funding. The reason people are saying it isn’t is because the CR from last year had an anomaly—a one-time funding amount of $485 million. If you add that into the base-year funding and look at this year, there is a $115 million decrease, but that was one-time anomaly funding. The core issue here is that there really are no guardrails on ICE and CBP. I can’t vote for it. I can’t be complicit in continuing to allow them to violate the constitutional rights of people across this country.
