🧵💡 I prepared another electronic assembly goodness 🍰 In our quest for ultimate quality control we invested in an X-ray 🩻 It's Nordson Quadra 5 \w CT 👨🔬 Int the video you can see the main processor of the Original Prusa XL 😍

We can fit a LOT of stuff inside - big or small 🧐 For example, you can fit several laptops side by side and inspect them down to the tiniest component inside without opening them 🤯 We use it not just for the PCBs ... our suppliers love this machine 🤪

This is a stepper driver soldered onto the XL board. You can even see the tiny bonding wires inside the package 🔬 It is absolutely incredible and we can go even closer when necessary 👌 Voiding 🫧 under the chip is part of the SMT reflow process - 5-10% is top-notch quality 💪

In this picture, you can see @EspressifSystem ESP32 Wifi module 🔎 It is a module with all the components on one small printed circuit board (PCB) which gets soldered onto your own project board like a postage stamp 💌

After all the inspection is done, we can cut the boards from the panel 🔪 We do not use knives, we use a high-end CNC mill so our edges are as smooth as butter 🧈 What would you like to see next ⁉️😊 Have an AWESOME weekend 🙏

I can see it coming, in a few years you'll be buying a small machine from ASML and making the processors yourselves too. 😂 Anyway, so cool to see what you now produce all yourself in house!

Quality in its highest form. Wish we can say the same for "other" 3d printer mfg.

Nice! How about adding some electron microscope ? It will allow you to go to much higher res.

My eyes deceive me ... lol

I guess you don't look for chip defects but the quality of the solder job?

These types of machines are extremely interesting, if someone can produce something more economical they have massive potential. Can you inspect some mechanical parts for us to characterize the accuracy of a printer quantitatively?

Hey,sir,if you need anything around PCB & PCBA,I always be here for you😉

Does x-ray tomography carry any risk of damaging silicon at smaller process nodes? e.g. is this suitable for quality control at sub 5nm?

I’m loving this detailed stuff your posting, can’t get enough.

This is so cool!! How are you going to use this, to debug chips that don't pass simpler QA tests?

Pamatuješ @david_klusacek , jak jsme řešili opravu té rozežrané vícevrstvé desky? Mi netvrď, že s tímhle bychom nebyli schopni najít ten problém 😅

This is SO COOL. Thank you for sharing these. this is one of my favorite videos Tested has done. I love getting to peek at what makes stuff tick.
