This week I got to interview Hamish McArthur for Climbing Gold. One of the interesting nuggets was that he said one of his gifts as a climber (besides being the first person to climb V17 in a session…) was his ability to quickly assess and learn from his movement. It inspired me to start videoing attempts on the board, and lo and behold I sent a few things with subtle tweaks to body position, etc. I guess I may have to join modernity and start using video as a tool more…

I don't understand when people say they don't understand. You watch the story of a man who tells you about his work, his mistresses, his troubles, his relationship to God. There is nothing to understand: there is just listening and feeling whether the problems of this man are your own problems. That's all." Ok, so we have a bit of a pickle. In media reports, they say the pendant Charlie was wearing had to be ripped off his body as the medics tried to stop the bleeding. So, either the report is wrong (exaggerated) and that is his necklace. Or it’s an earpiece… or… hell, I don’t know. It doesn’t look like blood. 🤷 I really wish they’d give more details about this because it only leads only to speculation.
