You need one of these. Attach one end to the object, pull out the string, use 2 fingers to hold the tension, drop the object and release the extension

Really? His right arm is fake. His right arm is pulling the can up with a clear fishing line that in the jacket. Both have long jackets. The fake hand with the cup is good.

It’s on a what is called a “pull” or a reel. The guy sitting down didn’t have it positioned quite right or hadn’t practiced the catch and as a result, very nearly messed it up, (and gave away how it’s done). They range from “make one yourself’ cheap to pretty damn expensive.
