You can find testing builds, download links for Nerrel's pack and other texture packs like GhostlyDark's MM Reloaded here. All of these are currently considered beta releases, but should be fairly close to the final product.

A lot of effort went into this feature that should solve most of the common frustrations. DDS files with GPU compression, mipmaps with anisotropic filtering, textures streamed on demand without causing stutters while cleaning up unused textures if the user's low on VRAM.

Another highlight is the inclusion of re-spirv, a new SPIR-V optimizer we made with Wiseguy to decrease shader compilation times. This means that on systems that use Vulkan for rendering (Steam Deck), ubershaders can compile up to 600 times faster.

This was evident when visiting new areas as the FPS would drop and take time to recover. We investigated and found a pretty big bottleneck on the driver during pipeline compilation. A single scene that took 5 minutes to compile now takes half a second on the Steam Deck.

While re-spirv does not affect D3D12, it also got a pretty massive improvement thanks to the introduction of using shader libraries in DXIL and the DXC's linker functionality.
