I released my first physics based game about 8 years ago. It was like realtime Scorched earth with physics. It was brutal.

It's on Steam, if you are interested. But keep in mind, it was my first game, I was not very experienced game designer back then. Sometimes it's annoying. Sometimes you'll rage quit. Remember, you can refund if you won't enjoy it.

"Scorched earth" have not heard that name in ages.

It's ancient, but those who enjoyed it back then, remember it.

Hey what the hell i was wondering what happened with this game! I lost track of it, thanks for bringing it back to my attention!

Noita but with Tanks, take my money

Scorched Earth was such a fun time and the graphics were insane! The father of Worms.

Seems like a lot of fun. Reminds me of this

You do have an eye for some awesome aesthetics! 👏

Thank you

Is this playable somewhere?

Yep, it's on Steam

it looks fun. i wanna have fun with it. but the reviews say the tanks and cannons sometimes bug out and break gameplay. are you looking to fix those issues?

I fixed what I could.

hmm what do you think is remaining that could not be fixed? i think it would be a super interesting thing to do a stream or video just exploring those bugs that couldn't be fixed. and who knows, maybe someone will have an idea?

Sometimes the tank falls tracks up. And to get back on track, it uses the gun. And that leads to an explosion and death. Contraols are not very convenient. Sometimes elevators are broken. Some levels are annoying. Enemies are shooting too much, hard to fight. Not enough ammo.

@PLT_cheater ive been turning tank over like that, and it seems to only destroy the tank at that time if its also under pressure. it did once when i was using the gun to try to lift a heavy object on top of the tank, but it killed the tank which was otherwise alive. physics made sense

@ZoldenGames i don't have the game, can you take a capture of what it looks like when the tank gets stuck?

@ZoldenGames or its gun

This looks like a blast. I could see me getting lost for hours just shooting holes in the ground.

Worms with tanks, I love it!

thats really cool

Does it have controller support?

Yes

Are the videos you’ve been sharing coming from this game with updates or is it a different one?

It's a different one. Recent videos are from the new engine.

Nice! I greatly enjoy the experiments you post in here, hoping to see more and maybe more 3D in the future as well :)

Reminds me

The physics look fun but $10 seems steep for an 8 year old game with mixed reviews and what seem to be severe control issues. Wishlisted it and may try it out when it goes on sale.

why am i not playing that?

Scorched Earth Noita! 🤘

"what if scorched earth and moon patrol were the same game and also harder" --Zolden, probably.

Nice

omg that looks hectic! nice

can you describe how you modeled the tank tracks. how is that mechanism work

It's a chain of particles connected by springs. They have friction with wheels and outside matter, it all is made of particles. The wheels rotating and moving inside a soft capsule of tracks. The tracks are destructible, can get damaged, and the tank has to move bare wheels.

Windows only? :(

The game runs on GPU, and back then there were differences in APIs from different OS of how compute shaders get compiled into them. Even though I tried making it work on Linux and Mac, but it didn't work. For the new engine I keep certain parameters in limits to work wherever.

love this

Scorched Earth

I remember Scorched! It was awesome. This looks fun!

This reminds me of Blaster Master. That game rocked

What is it,looks awsome.

Looks fun!

These particles and physics are really cool, wow, good job!

this looks super cool. have you considered doing a remaster? i feel like this has so much potential especially for larger worlds

Indeed, potential is vast and unexplored, and could be a source of fun if done right. The game I'm currently making with the new engine is a bit different genre, but should utilize physics-ness even more.

looks like a cute game. can't wait to try it with my kids

Looks awesome, you should be proud of it! If I may ask, how did you implement the collision detection and physics? To my eye it looks like vector-based system like box2d.

there are particles and static ground particle<->ground force used so ground pushes particles, also this force turns ground pixels to particles particle<->particle force used for hard particle based matter and pic/flip method is used for the fluid

Thanks for answering, cool stuff! Yea one of the problems in this type of games is that your tank gets weirdly stuck or physics acts up, but this looks fluid. +1
