I reverse-engineered the iPad pointer w/ Codex! As far as I know, no one's gotten this working before outside the simulator app. The real pointer code requires a private entitlement, so we re-wrote the pointer capture code from scratch with a `CGEventTap` to send HID events:

There's no BASIC interpreter for 211BSD UNIX, so I wrote one this morning (with some codex help!). Code below! I targeted CBM BASIC v2 as the language reference, and it's reasonably close. This sample program runs nicely! 10 for a=0 to 100000 step .2 20 print tab(40+40*sin(a));"*" 25 sleep 1 30 next a The code runs on MacOS and 211BSD and probably Linux, too:

Experimenting with tldraw, xyflow · React Flow · Svelte Flow & Mermaid JS as visual ways to interact with a code base for interactive modern code review. Claude & Codex can generate so much code so quickly that we are going to need new ways to review and understand their work. Markdown documents, ERDs, tree-maps, flow-charts, systems architecture diagrams, process maps. These could be the new lingua franca of a higher level abstraction of software development. What you're seeing below is a visualisation of the database structure of a Laravel app, automatically generated in a visual code review tool to help with the review of a new feature.

I reverse engineered iMessage so it sends you a notification whenever someone starts typing... Here's how it works. 1. The app injects its own code into the iMessage app using DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES to hook into its internal methods 2. Dynamically loads Apple's private IMCore.framework at runtime. This is iMessage's internal framework that handles all message/typing logic, but it's not publicly available so it can't be linked normally 3. Replaces private methods like IMMessageItem.isIncomingTypingMessage to intercept typing events 4. When intercepted, the injected code posts system notifications 5. My Swift app listens for those notifications and forwards them to iOS The one caveat is you need to disable some security features on your Mac 🙃. Trying to find a better approach for this though! More features coming. Sign up for access:

I know I’ve said this before but the iPad is a technological wonder. It’s one of the most beautiful devices ever, especially the iPad Pro with the matte display, which is what I have. The only problem? If I’m not an artist, not exactly sure what the use case is. Like where does it fit in my workflow. For me, the only app that is far superior on iPad over any other device is Flipboard. For everything else, iPhone is perfect and if I need to do some real work, MacBook Pro or even MacBook Air. What am I missing? What do you use your iPad for? Flipboard on iPad is magical.

I think I found a way to make a React Native list component with significantly better performance than FlashList, with 100% javascript. I'm still testing it but as far as I can tell there’s no pitfalls or issues… It just requires the new architecture for synchronous onLayout.

There’s a real difference between "Code Completion" and "Intent Prediction". One guesses the next token. The other understands the logic behind the change. I tested Trae v3.5.13 on a Next.js subscription flow to see how well it understood the repository as a whole.

Truly enjoyed working on the new map in Waymo app, I rewrote it from scratch in SwiftUI, it’s fully server-driven, 60fps with no lag between the map and content. Almost no MapsSDK API usage allowing to do fun things like screenshot testing overlays without the real map beneath 🥹
