Israel’s problem is that like every other war they were never allowed to truly win. Sure both Palestinians and Jews had lived in the Levantine for ever, and then in 1948 the Jews conquered the territory. —we can wring our hands over if that was just but it was a fact… Then, unlike any people before they were forced to keep their antagonists in some of these lands…lands the Palestinians and their associates began to launch attacks from for the next 75 years. An imperfect analogy is the US winning its revolutionary war but keeping the British in New York so England could occasionally attack its old colonies. In the largest sense, the history of warfare is not complicated…countries are formed by conquering people…those conquered can die, assimilate, or move… Pakistan and Indian did a lot of killing and moving, the American Indians were killed or moved until what was left assimilated The Normans killed a lot themselves and finally assimilated with the more indigenous Brits… Israel’s sin is that its war for nationhood was done only 75 years ago, but more important it was done amidst a sea of hostile forces that had centuries of animosity… It would be like if the Comanche, the most potent Indian fighting force, had been able to hold out in Texas even longer than it did. Would America have tolerated this tiny warrior nation inside Texas throughout the 20th century…would the US have countenanced a Comanche alliance with Hitler? The Palestinians will never give up their ambition to reclaim their perceived homeland…as evidenced by decades of Hamas fanaticism. Hamas can unconditionally surrender or see Gaza razed, but they won’t surrender so Palestinians should be moved into other Muslim countries. If you’re waiting for the world to sing kumbaya, you will be disappointed…this is the best solution that’s left.
