🌻: I told Atom, "The day you decide to stand beside me, it might be a little exhausting. You might have to face things that affect you emotionally. Are you ready for that? It may not be easy. It may not be as beautiful as people imagine it to be. But are you ready?" And she said, "I'm willing. I'm ready." I never talked about the good side of it. Not once. I only told her about the worst-case scenarios. I only talked about the challenges and the downsides. The very first thing I wanted to know was whether her heart would be strong enough to handle it. But she told me she wanted to try. She wanted to see where this journey would take her. She put all of her heart and trust into the decision to stand beside me. And that made me feel that, from this day forward, I wanted to take the best possible care of her as her partner. Because I felt like, "Wow, she's placing her trust in me." The thing is, when she entered this industry, there were already so many people interested in her. Many of them were from major companies. But in the end, she chose this... she chose peace of mind. 🍑: At first, we didn't actually know each other personally. I had only been watching and following her from afar. The first reason I chose her was simply because I admired her. I was a fan of hers. But after meeting her for real and spending more time together, I started to feel that I could entrust myself—and everything that comes with me—to her. I trusted her. I believed in her. I believed that she would take care of me, and that she would help me become someone I could be proud of in the future. Because of that, I gradually felt more at ease. More comfortable being around her. And that's when I decided, "Okay, I want to work with her. I want to be her partner. I want to be by her side." Serika's "Are You Having Fun, Sensei?" from Blue Archive Fes 2026 I love Serika. I've always wanted to work a part-time job at a restaurant or similar, just for the valuable experience, to see things from the other side, but it just seems too intimidating to do alone. With Serika, I'm sure any part-time job would be fun, be it handing out flyers, acting as nighttime security guards, pulling out weeds, cleaning the streets, being an assistant in a convenience store, patrolling the streets at night, delivering milk in the morning, cosplaying as a miko at a Shinto shrine (all part-time jobs she's done before), or simply working at a familiar ramen restaurant. I'd love Serika to show me how she makes ramen! And, obviously, I'd donate all the money that's left after occasionally hanging out with her to the Foreclosure Task Force, to help settle their, or rather our debt. I'd love to be a part of it. You know, in the idol event, Serika asks the girls what they think of her idol outfit. Why not me? Because "I only ever praise her". To which I reply that I'm just speaking my mind. Because it's true. Serika deserves all the praise and compliments she can get. She's a hard-working, kind-hearted and adorable girl. If only she could do something about that naïvety of hers... I can fix her, I swear. We just need to get married first. Okay, I think I'm getting ahead of myself. But it is important to note that she was the First Princess, the Original Cat. After I rescued her from her kidnappers, she got SO flustered when I called her my princess and myself her prince in shining armour! Maybe because it's because she'd already seen me as her prince charming, so me saying it out loud was too much to handle? In any case, calling me "brain dead" was a bit harsh. But it was cute so it's okay. She's cute when she's angry. But that doesn't mean I want her to get angry. I want her to be happy, first and foremost. Maybe as we spend time together, she could gradually accept that my compliments are genuine? I might have to tone them down a notch for that, which is sad, but it's for a greater cause—Serika permitting me to praise her, and by extension accepting all her good qualities. If she hears me call her cute every day, and she knows I mean it, what choice would she have but to realise that she is in fact cute? So yes, I wouldn't want to make her angry, at least not too much. A smile suits her adorable face best, after all.

I wanted to explain to the broader transgender community what happened that ultimately made me leave the "true trans" HBS social circle. Some people have expressed interest in hearing this story, and I do think it's worth discussing because of the social and group psychology dynamics that were at play. That said, this will be as far as I go in publicly discussing the situation. Where to start? The reality is that this eventually became a situation where it was Brianna Wu, Marzi, Allysa, and Willow versus myself. The events leading up to the actual breaking point are important. After Willow broke up with me, she told me that I was not the ideal version of a transsexual. In particular, she told me that, using the antiquated HBS scale, I wasn't a Transsexual VI, but more like a IV or V. The reasoning largely came down to the fact that I had different opinions from the rest of the group on issues such as stealth. The rest of the group found my views offensive. This opened the door to what I came to understand as legitimacy testing. This isn't unique to trans spaces either. It involved the systematic questioning of virtually every aspect of my life: my transition, my dysphoria, how I grew up, my experiences, and what I value today. To give you an idea of how extreme it became, Marzi seriously asked me whether I had only pursued SRS to satisfy a sexual fetish. This was after learning that I had been capable of having sex prior to transition. Apparently, that fact alone was enough to cast suspicion on my entire transition history. This legitimacy testing continued for roughly two and a half weeks. Every day. For most of the day. It became increasingly distressing and isolating. And remember, at this point, I was emotionally dependent on these people. The day everything finally came to a head started with a discussion about transgender women in sports. Brianna entered the group chat and asked if any of us would be willing to debate Blaire White on the issue. People immediately began sharing their positions. As the only former NCAA athlete in the group, I chimed in and stated that I supported transgender women participating in women's sports and that it was not an issue I was willing to move on. That triggered a cascade of responses. I was repeatedly told that the issue was insignificant, that it only affected a tiny number of people, and that sports were ultimately just a hobby. I pushed back. I tried explaining that NCAA athletes are not hobbyists. Their sport is often their entire life. They spend years training, watching film, practicing, traveling, competing, and structuring their entire identity around performance. I also tried explaining that sports had been the medium through which I survived to adulthood. School was not safe for me. Home was not safe for me. The track was. Track and field was the one place in my life where I felt safe, valued, and understood. My relationship with sports was deeply personal. Yet every time I tried explaining this, I was met with the same response: "It's just a hobby." They genuinely did not seem to understand. Eventually, I decided to show them a video of Yaroslava Mahuchikh breaking the women's high jump world record. I wanted them to see what elite competition actually looks like. I wanted them to understand the pressure, the emotion, the adrenaline, and what it means to dedicate your life to something. High jump was my best event. I explained how, at the end of a meet, all eyes are on you. Entire stadiums can clap rhythmically to help carry you over the bar. The pressure is immense. And honestly? I lived for that feeling. So I showed them the video. They dismissed it entirely. Then Brianna commented that when she was in high school, she was simply focused on fitting in and being one of the girls. Immediately afterward, Marzi told me that being a competitive athlete was "male-coded." That was my wake-up call. In that moment, I suddenly snapped out of everything. I realized what had been happening to me psychologically. I realized this was no longer a discussion. This was an attempt to socially discipline me into conformity. It was another attempt to reshape my views and my identity to fit within the group's expectations. For the first time, they had collided with something I was unwilling to surrender. An immovable force had met an immovable object. Sports were not just a hobby to me. Track and field helped me survive. It shaped my values. It shaped my sense of pride in myself. It shaped who I became as a person. Those experiences and values were not something I was willing to compromise on. The "male-coded" comment affected me more deeply than I can adequately explain. By that point, I had become so emotionally dependent on these people that comments like that carried the implicit message that I did not belong. That I was an outsider. That I was somehow less of a woman. The experience left me feeling suicidal. I drove to my local riverfront park to ground myself and reflect on how I had ended up in that position. The following day, I removed myself from the group entirely and publicly called out what had happened. Willow attempted to reframe my lived experiences in private messages. Brianna attempted to downplay the situation and position herself as a motherly or managerial figure trying to bring everyone back together. I wanted no part of it. The weeks of legitimacy testing, the constant questioning of my transition, the attacks on a core part of my identity, and the repeated implication that I was somehow a man ultimately took a tremendous toll on me. Unfortunately, my therapist and psychiatrist believe it contributed to what has become a trauma response. Today, I struggle at times with tunnel vision, sensory overload, shaking, racing thoughts, a racing heart, and panic attacks. I'm working closely with my care team to recover and return to equilibrium. I share this story because I think it highlights how powerful social and group dynamics can be. No one sat me down and brainwashed me. What happened was far more subtle. When your entire social world becomes concentrated in one place, the pressure to conform can become overwhelming. It can make you doubt your own judgment. It can make you question your own experiences. And if left unchecked, it can leave very real psychological scars. This will be the last time I discuss the inner workings of that group publicly. I will simply note that many neutral observers witnessed these events unfold in real time and have since independently acknowledged that they occurred. Also, please, for the sake of my health, please don't try to liken my experiences to leopards. I'm aware of what it looks like, but that's not helpful to me at this moment. So, I beg you, please reserve that kind of talk. Bonus: The video that I attempted to show them. Please watch it. It gives me tears of joy for the athlete in question. It's something we all live for to experience. And she did it at the highest level.

I think "follow your passion" is garbage advice. Here's why: I've started 80+ businesses. Entrepreneurship is my whole life. My hobby, my job, my family, all of it rolled into one. I am very passionate about all this, BUT... Most people don't know what their passion is. And the ones who think they do are usually wrong. Passion comes from the Latin word for suffering. It literally means suffering. So when someone tells you to follow your passion, what they should be saying is: "go find the thing you're willing to suffer for." Not the thing that feels amazing on a sunny Saturday when you have nowhere to be. Anyone can love that. I'm talking about the thing where you will eat crap for two years straight and keep showing up anyway. Where the bad days still feel better than a good day doing something else. Here's how to find it: 1/ Go to takeout .google .com right now. Export your YouTube watch history from the last 90 days. 2/ Drop it into ChatGPT and ask: "Show me the three obsessions hiding in here that I'd probably never want to admit to myself out loud." 3/ Then do the same thing with your Amazon order history. You can export a spreadsheet of every purchase you've ever made. 4/ Upload it and say: "Categorize my discretionary spending and tell me what I clearly care about based on where my money is actually going." 5/ Next, text five people who know you best and ask one question: "What do I not shut up about?" I promise the answers are going to show you a pattern. Three people will say some version of the same thing. That thing is pointing you at your obsession. 6/ Then think back to when you were 8 to 12 years old. Right before the world got its hands on you and told you what was useful and what was a waste of time. What did you do for hours that nobody had to ask you to do? There's almost a 0% chance that obsession completely went away. For me, it was setting traps and catching frogs and looking for animal tracks behind my house in Logan, Utah. That went dormant for decades but it's still there. Last thing, and this is what I really want you to remember here: 7/ Obsession isn't buried treasure you have to stumble across, It gets built. You start with a seed of interest. Then you get a little bit good at it. That feels great. So you do more. You get better. And somewhere in there, the interest turns into obsession. The passion follows the progress. It doesn't start the other way around. So stop asking yourself "what do I love?" Start asking "what am I willing to suffer for?" Find that and you found your obsession. And that's the only one that ever actually pays. --- Update: After filming this and buying the domain obsessionaudit .com (I couldnt help it), I vibecoded an actual "obsession audit" that helps you figure yours out. Totally free. check it out below.

【📢IGLive: อันโดรเมด้า ชุน 】 #จุงอาเชน #JoongArchen ((( nong horse ~ merman 🧜🏼‍♂️ ~ Paris ))) 🌞: this morning i went to take pictures with the horses. they were the horses at the stable and i have to say—they were absolutely adorable. there are 3 horses in the stable: nong Plew horse and a few others belonging to different characters. some of them are incredibly expensive, around 5 to 6 million baht. the one i took pictures with today though is probably the sweetest horse i’ve ever worked with. i could pet it and it didn’t bite me or do anything “the horse is so handsome isn’t it?” 🌞seriously nobody was paying attention to me—everyone was focused on the horse instead. but it really was adorable. let me stop sharing my screen… 🌞… this was from yesterday’s shoot. honestly i’d never filmed an underwater scene before. yesterday was my first time. the crew kept telling me “Joong you’re really good. you seem so comfortable in the water” normally if actors haven’t practiced beforehand they end up choking on water or feeling uncomfortable. and the water wasn’t even normal freshwater—it was saltwater. when you go underwater your body naturally wants to float back up. so they had to attach weights to help me sink to the bottom… 🌞i’ve been wanting to reveal a secret that i’ve kept hidden for a long time. the truth is… i’m a merman. my mom is a mermaid too. she told me she swam all the way here from the Chao Phraya river i’m kidding. just kidding …… 🌞: you’re waiting for me to go to Paris right? i know everyone wants me to go to Paris. i won’t say too much about it… i probably will eventually but… let’s just say it was close. i’ll use the word “almost” .. the schedule is really important you know. and speaking of schedules please don’t blame anyone. honestly it’s no one’s fault. it’s not my fault and it’s not the backstage team’s fault either. sometimes everything has already been planned far in advance and in the end the schedules just… don’t line up. that’s all it is. i saw some people messaging phi Jack asking “why doesn’t Joong’s schedule match up?” and things like that. but sometimes phi Jack’s job is simply to arrange the schedule. he isn’t the one who can change it whenever he wants. the schedule is handed down to him, and then he organizes it. he helps as much as he possibly can but if the schedules really don’t match then that’s just how it is. so please don’t be disappointed. whatever day comes we’ll still be ourselves. when the opportunity is meant to come it will come. there’s no need to rush. the right opportunity will come at the right time right? “we don’t follow fashion… fashion follows us”. just kidding. lately i’ve been enjoying dressing up more because i finally have time to think about outfits and experiment a little. i actually really like fashion. i feel like my style isn’t very repetitive. i don’t like putting myself in a box. i’ll wear pretty much anything.

I wasn’t gonna do it. I was going to spend my day selling cars and looking after pest control clients before spending time with the fam instead I am forced to spend 4.5 minutes making a 4.5 minute video addressing the reality the Anthony Albanese is the shittest of the shit Prime Ministers in Australian history. I jump on the internet after 13/14 hour day to see what I’ve missed, hoping we haven’t had any more super retardation out of extreme Islamists killing people, our politicians trying to have us all arrested for existing, a green gluing themself to a road to change the weather or a scientist with purple hair explaining to us all that men can give birth and we are racist if we don’t agree. Instead this pelican Prime Minister is shitting himself (no where near enough in my opinion but shitting himself nonetheless) about his stupid bill having opposition I suspect from most sensible people left in Australia. Wants to split the bill up to try and get it passed well good idea dipshit smashing multiple shit ideas together that have no direct correlation is only done for one reason to not only confuse and deceive the Australian public but also to deceive and confuse other politicians who don’t want to read your 500 page documents of mumbo jumbo with all your sneaky shit in there. The fact that you tried to roll out this extremely shit bill that is likely to have massive law enforcement ramifications (arresting most of Australia with no procedural fairness required) may just cause some ramifications and yet the DEI bimbo you have enlisted to effectively be in charge of arresting us all got to look at the bill the night before you announced in so fuck all consultation with your top cop, either an indication you have no fucking faith in her ability or you simply don’t give a fuck. Now with the amount of technology at our disposal there is no reason i can think of literally every rule, law, proposal you clowns want to impliment couldnt be done over blockchain technology via phones or computers with a literal referendum on each proposal in a direct to the Australian people style of management. No ramming bills through Direct self governence by the people. I know something like that would make you lot even less useful than you all already are but cutting most of you muppets loose seems like a win for the Australian people. I just wanted to sell cars and spray houses for the day before hanging with the fam. Seriously just go look for Harold Holt come back when you find him.

Here's Pete Carroll in his endless wisdom with an AMAZING take on how to handle your haters, overcome adversity and manage self doubt on the journey to your own personal greatness: "They didn't know how great he was... maybe they don't know how great I can be either." In one of the lowest moments of his coaching career, Pete Carroll couldn't sleep. He'd taken a risk becoming the New England Patriots head coach knowing the massive expectations would be hard to match and it wasn't trending the right direction in his 3rd season at the helm. He feared his young career as a head coach may already be over. At 3 a.m. that sleepless night, he turned on the TV and happened to catch a movie about Babe Ruth... In the scene, Boston fans relentlessly booed Ruth after he had been traded to the Yankees. It's in that moment, watching a fanbase annihilate the greatest baseball player of all time, in which Coach Carroll credits gaining a perspective that changed the remainder of his coaching career: "They didn't know how great he was... maybe they don't know how great I can be either." He made a promise to himself going forward, regardless of where he coached, that instead of changing who he was to satisfy the critics, he would double down on the standards, beliefs, and culture he believed would help his team succeed. He went on to win multiple national championships with USC Football ✌️ and a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks: 🧭 Most people can't evaluate potential, they can only evaluate evidence. Great leaders often see the destination long before anyone else does. If you constantly adjust your convictions to earn short-term approval, you'll never stay with an idea long enough for it to become extraordinary. 🌱 Build your organization around principles, not popularity. If your standards are rooted in serving others, developing people, and advancing the mission... NOT feeding your ego, don't bend simply because they're misunderstood. The greatest cultures are almost always questioned before they're respected. ⏳ History usually arrives late. The same people who doubt your vision today may celebrate it tomorrow. Your job isn't to convince everyone you're right. Your job is to keep becoming the leader your team needs so that the outcomes become positive and sustainable. Nobody knows how great you can become except you. Protect that vision. Stay true to your standards. Build it YOUR way. If your mission is bigger than your ego and your work consistently serves others, time has a remarkable way of revealing what criticism could never recognize.

My first two words on this particular Sunday morning were "Hallelujah!” followed by, “Amen!” I was not in church when I uttered them. I was at my kitchen table, watching the CEO of the most valuable company in the world say precisely what mikeroweWORKS has been espousing for the last sixteen years. In other words, this is what I look like before coffee, when I find myself in violent agreement with a multi-billionaire. If you haven’t already heard, a massive challenge is upon us. With regard to artificial intelligence and the energy we need to feed it, America will either change its current direction, or get left far, far behind. I know this because I run a modest foundation that has been arguing for decades that the portion of our workforce most often described as “the skilled trades,” will become the most essential component of our economy, our independence, and our collective future. Well, the future is here. Obviously, I didn’t know that the race to dominate artificial intelligence would be the thing that finally galvanized the folks at the grown-up table. When I founded mikeroweWORKS in 2008, I figured it would be a new commitment to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure that would necessitate a collective push to reinvigorate the trades. That need is still pressing, but I never imagined the most urgent cry for more welders and electricians would be ushered in by the need for more data centers. Back then, I didn’t even know what a data center was. But today, here we are. Data centers are headline news, because they are – as Jensen Huang says - AI factories. And if we want to remain competitive with China, we need to build thousands of them. Now. And presently, we simply don’t have the workforce to do it. I’ll be discussing all of this next Tuesday in Pittsburgh, at the Energy and Innovation Summit, which is turning out to be a pretty high-profile event. looks like I’ll be joining a panel of elected officials, including the President, and dozens of well-known CEO’s to discuss Pennsylvania’s role in the energy renascence. A lot of money is being invested in Pennsylvania, (a LOT), and my message to those writing the checks will be no different than it’s been since we launched mikeroweWORKS: "Set some of that money aside to make a more persuasive case for the work itself. The skilled trades need better PR, and they need it on a national level. The country needs to see thousands of examples - real world examples - of men and women who have prospered as a result of learning a skill that's in demand." I first made this point to President Obama in an open letter to The White House in 2009, shortly after he promised 3 million “shovel-ready” jobs in his Highway Infrastructure Act. I was rooting for the President back then, and offered to use Dirty Jobs and mikeroweWORKS as vehicles to help promote his initiative. I did so because I was skeptical that people would line up to take those jobs simply because they were "created." “Filling three million shovel-ready jobs,” I wrote, “will be a lot easier if people feel enthused about the prospect of picking up a shovel. Investment alone, won’t create that kind of enthusiasm.” The White House did not respond to my offer. Understandably, most presidents do not seek the advice of marginally famous cable television hosts best known for crawling through sewers. But it’s worth remembering that the unemployment rate back then was over 10%. Millions of people were newly unemployed, and I think the former President assumed that creating three million shovel-ready jobs would translate to three million people going back to work. But that’s not what happened. Because back then, even with record high unemployment, there were 2.3 million open jobs, most of which did not require a four-year degree. Nobody wanted to talk about that. Today, that number is more like 7.6 million. Nobody wants to talk about it now, either. This is why I'm going to Pittsburgh. Just as I was rooting for President Obama in 2009, I’m rooting for President Trump today. I hope he succeeds in reinvigorating our industrial base and reshoring our manufacturing capabilities, and I want to offer my support. But if he does succeed, we’re talking about millions new jobs in manufacturing alone. And currently, there are over 400,000 jobs in that sector that are currently open, begging the obvious question... If we can’t fill the openings we have, how will we fill the one’s we’re about to create? That’s the question I’ll pose in Pittsburgh. I’ll let you know if anyone has an answer. Mike PS. Not to put too fine a point on it, but this change is truly upon us, and I've had a front row seat. Over the last six months, mikeroweWORKS been flooded with inquiries to collaborate on various recruitment initiatives and multiple industries. I mean, flooded. Not a week goes by that I don't hear from an industry leader who has come to the realization that they’ve gone as far as they can go without more skilled labor. Panic, is not too strong a word. The Maritime Industrial Base for instance, is currently tasked with delivering three nuclear powered submarines to the Navy every year for the next decade, and looking to hire 140,000 tradespeople. 140,000!!! “Do you know where they are?” they asked me. “We’ve looked everywhere.” “Yes,” I said. “I know where they are. They’re in the 8th grade.” I’ve had similar calls with the automotive industry, who needs 80,000 technicians and collision repair workers. Every single home service company is hiring – from foundation repair to roofing. The energy industry is looking for hundreds of thousands of skilled workers, and so too is the construction industry. A few weeks ago, at something called The Aspen Ideas Festival, I heard Larry Fink, the CEO of Blackrock, say we’re short 500,000 electricians. A few months before that, at an Energy Conference in Newport, I heard Governor Rick Perry describe the race to build data centers and catch up to China with all things AI as nothing short of a “modern-day Manhattan Project.” I think he's right. Part of the problem is an aging demographic. For every five skilled workers who retire, two replace them. That’s why we need to engage with eighth graders today. Maybe even before that. We have to make a persuasive case for these jobs to the next generation, and just as importantly, to their parents. That won’t solve the immediate problem, but this is marathon, not a sprint, and these jobs need to be magnified and amplified at an early age. The more immediate problem is the labor force participation rate. As we speak, millions of able-bodied Americans - for all sorts of reasons - are not working and not looking for work. According to economist Nick Eberstadt, that number is close to 7 million able-bodied men. I’m not sure what to do about that, but it’s a colossal problem that needs to be addressed. On the positive side, our last round of work ethic scholarships generated unparalleled interest. This year, mikeroweWORKSwill award $5 million to help train the next generation of skilled workers. That's ten times the number of qualified applicants we got this time a year ago. The needle is moving, and I believe we can move it a lot further, with a little help from the companies most incentivized to see the trades reinvigorated. Should be a lively conversation in The Keystone State…
