The change did not start with Pope Leo but with Pope John Paul II, his consevative views and his world view of how communism destroys religious freedom helped restore faith in the Church. Iranian here. Where was the Holy Father's compassion when tens of thousands of my fellow Iranians were being slaughtered? Was our blood not worth a single prayer or statement? It seems the Vatican's concern is selective, reserved only for political posturing against certain politicians. My lifelong belief in the kindness and passionate of the Christian faith has been shattered by this Pope's huge indifference and pure political statements.
