I started tracking my own spending recently, and my impulse buys were eating into money I should've been investing. Once I cut them, I was back in control. If you earn 10,000 cedis a month the 50/30/20 Budget rule is the simplest budget you'll ever use: 🏠 50% (GH₵5,000):...

I beg to differ. It is 20 / 30 / 50. Not the other way around.

You want to save 50% of your salary and 20% on your rent and needs? Good luck

It’s the same as that: the arrangements. You save before you do the deduction: 20 - savings / 30 - wants / 50 - needs. Savings come first. Now, does one do the calculation.

I didn’t circle. I put it in the right format. You are a marketer. When you sell to someone in an order. They follow that order. It has always been 20/30/50 not 50/30/20. So now how do you make that calculation?

Devin Hester says he didn’t touch his NFL paycheck for the first 4 years of his career and he lived off endorsements and gave himself a $5,000 monthly spending budget “To be honest, a lot of us, when you come from where we come from, we don't look into how to manage money. We never was put into a position where we had that much money. The little money we were around growing up, when we looked at our elders, they all managed their own money, because it wasn't a lot to manage.” “So right now where I think we need help is more with business, learning how to invest... My first three, four years I lived off straight endorsements. I didn’t have to touch my check. Everybody isn't going to be blessed to do that... “I grew up in the old age where the way I budget myself was almost like street common sense, to the point where I said I'm gonna pay my own bills, cause I wanna learn how to do it. It was fun for me. I had a big binder, I wrote down what date, who I paid, how much it was. I did that. I educated myself on that.” “I’mma take out $5,000 in cash… and I’m not touching nothing else. I’mma live out that $5,000 for the rest of this month. Spending wise. I budgeted myself like that... What you can't do is you can't keep up with guys that's been in the league 6-7 years before you. Because those guys are on a second contract.” “What I did is I started living off my endorsement deals and picking these older guys' brains. Asking who their financial guy is? You

Draymond Green says he created a $10,000 rule to teach himself how to budget during his NBA rookie year “I kind of went by this motto that entire year. Once I got to the point where I had $10,000 in my bank account, I said my account can never get under $10,000. Then once I got to $20,000, it can't get under $20,000. I did it in increments of $10,000” “I think every check I got at that point was like $7,600 every two weeks. By the time I paid my rent, which my rookie year was $3,000 and did all of those things, sometimes it would dip a little bit under, and that meant I couldn't spend a dollar the rest of the month” “The issue with that was, if I had $29,000, so if my one check took me to $29,000, I would spend it back down to $20,000. I just couldn't get under $20,000” “I did that because I wanted to understand how to pay bills. I wanted to understand, if I wanted to send my mom some money, how to do all of these things, know where every dollar is going, and teach myself the value of money and how money would truly work” “I made mistakes in doing that, obviously, with my theory and spending $9,000 some months, but it was great for me and gave me a better understanding” “When you come from where we come from, you don't just learn financially. You don't gain financial literacy in a year. Even after that year, I wasn't the most financially literate person, but I had a better understanding, and that was the beginning of me starting to build”

As a Bitcoin guy, about 18 months ago I started moving a significant portion of my crypto profits into stocks. And I now understand why experienced investors talk so much about having a balanced portfolio. I bought my first Bitcoin in 2011 at around $35 and made my first $1 million in 2017. Over the years, I diversified into real estate, stocks and other investments, but Bitcoin remained a major part of my portfolio. Then about 18 months ago, I met someone with far more experience in the stock market. When Bitcoin was around $115,000, he gave me advice that stuck with me: Keep trading crypto, but start moving a significant portion of the profits into stocks. I decided that whenever I made trading profits, I would put roughly 50% of those profits toward building my stock portfolio. I’m glad I listened. Bitcoin later fell below $100,000, while some of the stocks I bought performed strongly. It reinforced an important lesson for me: Making money is one thing. Learning how to diversify and protect what you’ve made is another. I’m still a Bitcoin guy. I still trade crypto. But I no longer believe that being bullish on Bitcoin means most of my wealth has to remain exposed to one asset. Diversification matters. If you’re interested in researching stocks, you can also check out the Stock Picker inside the TradeHouse app, which surfaces four stock ideas each day for you to research further and, if appropriate for you, buy through your own brokerage account. Sara Duterte to blame for the lower 10 billion computerization budget I cannot and will not argue with you regarding what our constitution says; that education should get the highest budget. You are correct. I do not know what’s the next step on this but for me? The budget cut at the very least for computerization was justified and here’s why: I followed the Committee on Appropriations hearings for the budget of the Department of Education in both houses of the legislative. I have been writing a lot of this. The decision of Congress was based on facts —- things they already raised with the agency numerous times, even before the budget season. Just for a quick appreciation of facts: in 2022 11.3B was allocated for the DepEd Computerization Program, in 2023 11B. A total of more than 20 billion pesos! According to the COA’s DepEd 2023 report, only Php 2.075 billion of its 11.3 billion budget was utilized. So forgive me for agreeing with this budget cut, unless the new DepEd Secretary can prove that he can fix the internal issues of the agency — I would rather give way to other programs in our tight fiscal space. “How can Secretary Angara defend DepEd’s lack of action when the Philippines is already at rock bottom in global education rankings? A teacher-to-computer ratio of 30:1 is unacceptable in 2024. We need to see drastically improved utilization rates before any discussion of budget increases or restoration” -Rep. Rodge Gutierrez I also want to emphasize the alleged rigged bidding of these computers costing us Php 1.6 Billion pesos as Rep. Jil Bongalon pointed out. You may find my post from months ago interesting: So yes! Sara Duterte’s incompetence as DepEd Secretary was the basis of this budget cut. I am also interested to see how the Office of the President will reconcile the fact that the education sector should get the highest budget allocation. Please note that the President can veto line items of the General Appropriations Bill, not necessarily the whole GAB.

After many requests, here is my full stock scanning and daily process to swing trade momentum breakouts. I've been swing trading momentum stocks and averaged 100%+ returns per year, with $1 - Avg $ volume past 20 days is 20MM min - 8 >20>50 EMAs - Close above 20 EMA - Close > previous day high - CML indicator GREEN I just inverted these for shorts, and the same for ETFs long and short. My universe is US stocks + American depositary receipts. Once I get my scanning going, all I do is identify stocks breaking out according to my rules. I manually go through the scan results (shown in the video), identify potential setups, bring them onto TradingView, and decide if I want to enter. If you want to know more about my setup and how I swing trade momentum breakouts long and short to play with this scanning process, make sure to read my latest explanation in the tweet below. Once I identify with a manual review a setup that meets my criteria, I load it into TWS, make sure my position sizing is in check to risk 1% per trade from entry to stop, and enter. After 4:00 pm EST, the markets are closed, and I enter my stops and my BE alarms. That's it. I close my computer and come back the next day, and repeat the process, every day, every week, every month, every year. If you are NOT doing the same thing over and over in your process, you are doing random stuff. As you see, scanning is NOT the answer to a profitable strategy. Scanning is a process that derives directly from your EDGE. Not the other way around. Once you know what your edge is with extreme detail, you know how to find the stocks you want. Remember. Setup > Process > Scans. Everything starts with your EDGE 📈

As an Early Bitcoin Investor & trader, I’ve lost money several times, so I understand that losses are part of investing. But losing over $2.8 million in some of my businesses back home taught me a different lesson. I thought I was diversifying away from risky assets like crypto and stocks into physical businesses, which I believed were safer. I was wrong. There are few things riskier than investing heavily in businesses you cannot physically be there to monitor. What hurt even more was realizing that some of the people I trusted to help build and manage my vision saw my absence as an opportunity to enrich themselves, like the person who was supposed to help me source the Livestocks And as the businesses struggled, I kept putting in more money trying to save them. Sometimes you have to let a dying horse die instead of losing everything trying to save it. I eventually made myself one promise: Never again will I make a major investment in a business whose day-to-day operations I cannot properly monitor! This is one of the principles I now teach in the Diaspora Wealth Builders Community. If you live in the diaspora, learn to take advantage of the wealth-building opportunities available in the country where you live. Build your financial stability there first. Then, if you eventually return home, you can build businesses where you are physically present to monitor them. And if you must invest back home while living abroad, consider investments that don’t depend heavily on other people managing them for you, like the stock market. Invest only where you can see the day-to-day running of your business. 🌍 If you’re an African living in the diaspora and want to learn how to build wealth where you live, join the Diaspora Wealth Builders Community. 👉🏾 Join at

You earn a high salary. You are smart. You think this means you should pick your own stocks. You are wrong. The skill that makes you rich in your profession is not the skill that makes you rich in the markets. Let me help resolve your dilemma - mutual fund or stocks? • Time Fallacy Rajiv Thakkar makes a brilliant point. If you earn 50 lakhs or 1 crore a year your time has a specific hourly rate. Spending 20 hours a week analysing balance sheets to beat the index by 2 % is a loss making activity. You are effectively working for minimum wage in your second job as a fund manager. • Information Asymmetry You are competing against machines and teams of analysts who track businesses 24x7. They know the management. You may read a quarterly report 3 days after it is published. • Psychological Cost Direct stock picking requires an iron stomach. Can you handle a 40 % drawdown in your portfolio while also have an argument with your boss at work. Most professionals panic sell at the bottom because they cannot manage the stress of two high pressure environments simultaneously. • Here is why I although a professional but still invest directly in stocks :- • Investing is like hobby to me • I enjoy reading annual reports on a Sunday afternoon (and it doesn’t feel like work). • I enjoy finance & human psychology books. • I understand valuations • I have seen bear markets and know I can handle them • I believe in compounding and understand that impact of even a 1% expense ratio on my portfolio over the long term • I can keep emotions away while investing - I don’t have FOMO seeing my old stock become a multibagger. Neither do I panic to see a stock down by 40% in my portfolio (infact Network 18 is a part of my portfolio and down by 40% right now) If you can’t stick to what I’ve mentioned above, you should know the mutual fund advantage:- A good mutual fund buys you leverage. You are hiring a specialised team for a fraction of the cost. They handle the volatility. They handle the rebalancing. You focus on your career where your primary cash flow is generated. Let the compounding happen in the background. And you can focus your mental energy on increasing your professional income. That is the highest ROI activity you can do.

Here is my full daily routine and scan process I follow. I swing trade stocks, and do all of my work in the last 30 min of the trading day. That's how I manage to average 100%+ returns/year with -10% max DD, entering my trades EOD. If you don't have a daily routine/process you adhere to, it will be almost impossible to make money swing trading stocks in the long term. I have the same routine and scanning process I followed for the past 6 years without fail. That's how you build consistency in your own trading and your setup/system/strategy. If you don't have a solid process you repeat every single day, you would be doing random stuff. Random stuff = losing money. Here is how my day goes: --> 3:30pm EST - I get to my laptop (yes, ditched the 5 monitors for a single laptop), - open up my software (TC2000, TradingView, and TWS) - And begin scanning on my long, short, and ETF scans on TradingView (see video attached for scan details and layout ✅) --> 3:50pm EST By this time, I: - already know which stocks are giving my signals according to my system, - I sort them in TradingView by ADR %, - And prioritize if I have more than 5 signals (that's my max limit per day) --> 3:58pm EST - Now I pre-loaded my orders on TWS, - check my position size to have a 1% risk per trade in all positions, - and execute just before the close --> 4:01pm EST - Markets are closed, so I add my Stop Loss and BE alarm - close my computer, and come back tomorrow in the last 30 minutes before the close and repeat... As you see, once you have your system and process in place, you can execute your system flawlessly, and that's what brings consistency and growth to your account over days, weeks, months, and years of doing the same thing over and over again... Build your process, and execute every day and you will grow with your system 📈

I swing trade momentum stocks and have averaged 100%+ returns for the past 6 years. All while trading ROUTINE: - I get to my computer at 3:30 pm EST, half an hour before the close - I start running my scans and see if there are any stocks that fit my strict criteria. - By 3:50 pm I already know if I have signals to take, - I move those symbols to TradingView to better manage my positions (I like the charting there) - enter trades in Interactive Brokers before 4pm, place my stops, BE alarms, and repeat the next day My whole process takes less than 30 min every day, and I take setups according to my system rules. --> SCANS: I run 3 separate scans, one BULLISH, BEARISH, and ETFs (TC2000 runs ETFs on a different list). Make sure to include ADRs with US Stocks on your equity scans. Here are the conditions (adapt for PCF): 1) price > $1 2) average dollar volume past 20 days: $20M 3) 8>20>50 EMAs 4) close >20 EMA 5) CML indicator = GREEN 6) close > yesterday's high 7) Sort results by ADR % Same for the BEARISH and ETF (on bear scans, I look for price> $6 As you see, scans are not the secret sauce to trade. What most people miss is that scanning is a process derived from your trading system rules!!! You first need to develop an edge, I developed my swing trading system after going through 6000 stocks over 3 decades, all market conditions, and derived hard rules to trade them (95% mechanical). Once you have your system in place, you naturally know what to scan for. Most people get it the other way around. System/EDGE first, scans second. Work on your edge, and you won't have to ask for a scan in your life 📈

Qullamaggie shows Exit Strategy for Long Swings “What’s your exit strategy for such long swings? How do you decide this? Okay, that’s easy. Let’s take an example, ROKU. So I bought it here, on the opening range size. It gapped up on earnings, huge volume. All the things I’m looking for. You know, long range break had like a 6, 7-month range break had surprising good earnings. Great growth, etc. I sell some, maybe 15 to 20%. A quarter of my position, and then I trail it. Then I just start trailing it like the first close below this purple line. That’s the 10-day moving average. I sell maybe say a quarter or a third of what I still have left. The shares I have left after the ones I bought. Sold into strength, and then I sell another third or quarter when it hits the first close below the 20-day moving average, which is the yellow line. And then the next level is the red line, which is the 50-day, etc. So that’s how I scale out. So that’s what I use these moving averages for. I wait for them to be my stop pretty much. So I wait until the end of the day and I sell it. Then I also have a level. Let’s just take an example right here. I usually use the previous swing’s lows as my stop. Then I would get out at 79. Even though it turns up intraday and closes above this yellow line, I would have to stop. You know, you can get stopped out because you know. I can, so you know. Sometimes stocks, they go, they can go down, you know, 20%.50% in a day, even. You know mid and large cap names can do that sometimes. So, you know, if it hits my last resort stop, it is my last resort stop. I just sell it. If that was helpful, those are my sell rules, sell into strength and I trail the rest.”

How I Find Stocks WHEN Institutional Money Floods In (3 Signs) My strategy comes from my days as a hedge fund strategist—finding breakout stocks when institutional money pours in. Here's my exact system: I look for 3 tell-tale signs: 1. Look for consolidation patterns (sideways movement) 2. Wait for breakout above the 50-day moving average 3. Buy just above recent highs Remember: Don't start with individual stocks. That's overwhelming. I typically start with sectors. I find sectors showing the consolidation pattern (like homebuilders or biotech recovering from terrible years). Then I drill down to industries within those sectors. Finally, I pick the top 2-3 stocks in that industry and look for the same pattern. I call it the "heartbeat pattern": sideways consolidation, breaking above the 50-day MA, taking out recent highs. I set my buy order just above that point. When it triggers, I watch the volume. If it doubles, triples, or quadruples—that's institutional money flooding in. This is how I catch the sweet spot when the big money moves, not after. It takes me 2-3 hours per week, and it's been working for decades. — This is just a small snippet of the 25-minute interview. We also covered: • The exact volume pattern that signals institutional buying is happening NOW • How to automate your exits so emotions don't cost you 20-30% losses • Why "cheap" stocks are a trap—and what to buy instead Just comment “INTERVIEW’ and I’ll DM you the complete interview.
