I was paralyzed from the chest down almost six years ago and leaving the hospital was actually extremely hard for me. I grew a close bond with everyone who took care of me. Nurses, respiratory therapists, even janitors. I was hospitalized for a total of two months and the transition back home to live a regular (or as close to it as I could get) life was extremely difficult. Six years later, I still look back on my time in the hospital and feel overwhelming gratitude for the people who treated me like family. I can only hope and pray that they stumble across my content one day and see how far I’ve come. Their kindness and warmth is something I will carry with me forever. I’ll never forget these people❤️

I’ve been struggling. I haven’t been consistent on my socials lately, due to trying to maneuver through whatever I’ve been dealing with mentally. Since coming back to wrestling 2 and a half years ago, I’ve been very open and honest about things I’ve gone thru and it’s allowed people to connect with me in a way that has been truly humbling. After that, another young Ethiopian came to me and asked what had happened. He recorded a video of me and posted it on social media. They claimed that one of my car tyres had stepped on a white line. When I asked for a moment to park properly, one officer jumped into the back of my car, while the other clamped it and then also got into the vehicle. They demanded that I drive to their Coventry Road office but then began pressuring me for money, implying that if I didn't give them something, I would be charged $98 once they took the car in. I explained that I didn't have any money, but they continued to threa+en me. I started recording the conversation on my phone, took out $20, and as they were stepping out, I told them I had recorded everything. One officer immediately rushed off, and the other followed. After several months of studying day and night, I finally got into IIM Bangalore in 2014 for an MBA. My parents were very proud but then I took a major risk and decided not to go to IIM Bangalore, and instead focus on writing a book called Selfienomics which taught nutrition labels.
