I still remember being 9 in the theater and getting so existentially frightened by this bit. Couldn’t stop thinking about it the rest of the movie.

Hellboy’s probably my favorite Del Toro if I’m being honest with myself.

Me when the cosmic horror is delectable

I should rewatch hellboy bc I have no recollection of this scene at all.

Hellboy was my first introduction into Lovecraftian beings, and it definitely jumpstarted a fascination. I love how chilling it felt that this thing was just there floating somewhere.

A great fucking sequence to be sure. And, sorry, I can't stop myself from sharing that I designed the Hell Hole Generator. Rage on.

Azathoth, the Lord of all Things, tends to do that to people. That's why he is relegated out in the mindless void past the bright clusters of dimensioned space, where neither time nor matter stretch.

I was floored, shocked, and just 😱 when Hellboy II: the Golden Army got like NO attention. I have probably never seen a movie so visually stunning. It was absolutely beautiful. A group of us went over what we thought was great that year it never even registered to them.

This one too.

I have always, always loved the Lovecraftian vibe and the Cthulu-ness of the Ogdru Jahad. So creepy & intimidating.

It's called Hellboy. What did you expect kittens? They came later.

oh, hellboy not appreciated enough piece of gdt filmog luv it dearly together with mimic and blade 2

For me that moment came much earlier in my life

In the coldest regions of space, the monstruous entities Ogdru Jahad -the Seven Gods of Chaos- slumber in their crystal prison, waiting to reclaim Earth... and burn the heavens. (Des Vermis Mysteriis)

It's Ogdru Jahad, if anybody wants to know

I still don't understand why these didn't do better. These were great, fun movies.

For me it was this. Altered States made me feel very weird. Also Annihilation gave me some weird feels

I was just regular scared cuz big monster

Del Toro plays around with elements of Lovecraftian influence constantly. The true monsters are out there... in the darkness... the Arctic regions and below. Oooooooo

NINE?!?

back when CGI was peak

Is this Jaws?

What movie is this from?

Yall should read the graphic novels bc this shit is all there x5, including this baddie

That awakened my curiosity for cosmic horror. What actually scared me, without fail, was the guy with the blades when he didn't have his mask on.

Pure Lovecraft. Now, why won’t he make “At the Mountains of Madness” like he promised?

I like how I instantly knew what movie this was from. I watched hellbiy once in theatres but it left an indelible mark upon my psyche

Hellboy is a masterpiece

Is that Hellboy? 🤔

Pure cosmic horror

what's so scary about a space squid?

I was like 10 when my dad took me to see Fire in the Sky. Fucked me up for years.

Lil bro was 9 in 2004..

My first "Lovecraftian" experience
