It’s a backfire. They set them to burn itself out when the main fire gets there. This isn’t new technology

I’m not sure what you mean. I’ve driven through Pinery Provincial Park when they did controlled burns but wtf?

Backfire. Intentional fire fighting technique in use since Christ was a cowboy. Nothing to look at here.

You think about “back-burning”? A technique used 2 slow down, even stop the advance of larger fires by pre-burning the fuel in its path? You think and don’t know what you are posting OR you know and you think you can fool people with dis/misinformation? IMO, it can’t be both.

I will have to defend the personnel in the helicopter. It appears to me that this aerial team is performing something called "back burning." This is where you strategically set fires to intercept the main fire in it's projected path of destruction. It is a tried and true way to stop large fires dead in its tracks saving lives of both people and animals and property.

It’s become a summer tradition in Canada. If they burn enough of the country maybe they can force us into those tiny condos the govn’t is buying. 😎

its called a controlled burn. they cut down all the trees in a circle around the burn area. it actually reduces forest fires. its because they're not doing it...and liberals committing arson that canada's been on fire for like 5 years now.

horsewhistlerphotography's profile picture
horsewhistlerphotography3 months ago

It’s called fighting fire with fire. If you set controlled fire into the existing fire line, you can remove fuel in a slow, controlled manner, rather than get torching and candlesticks. People who have no idea about fire theory really should research before spouting off idiotic conspiracy theories. We really are living in idiocracy.

MEC carries the Tru Flare pen launcher system, which is compact and fires both aerial distress flares and bear bangers (noise makers) for backcountry safety. The individual pen launcher costs $36.95, and launcher kits including flares and bangers run for $61.95 Both high-risk fire starter

They were always doing controlled burns. This began happening the exact same year Canada stopped doing controlled burns and left more of the forest unmanaged.

@FrostTalkIRL The difference is this video is an example of a control burn where fire marshals will dig fire lines where the flames cannot cross over and they do it frequently enough to where large piles of fuel cannot accumulate. Canada doesn’t do that at all anymore.

That's how they fight forest fires.. They run the fire towards the other fire so there is nothing left for it to burn when the other fire gets there.

Xander Myers's profile picture

Brother. They do a controlled burn to make a break in the fire. Everytime there’s a big forest fire everyone gets all conspiracy theorist about it without doing any research. Wild fires cannot be put out traditionally.

While what is happening now will most definitely turn out to be the result of arson, what you are witnessing here is a control burn ahead of the inferno in an attempt to stop it in its tracks by expending its fuel.

kinda seems like they need to be doing way more of this to reduce the amount of fuel laying on the ground so the fires are more controllable when they happen.
