"You don't pray to tell God what you want or what you need". This sounds good, but is deceptive and not Biblical. While it’s true that prayer is about seeking God’s will, the Bible also encourages us to bring our requests and needs before Him. Verses like Philippians 4:6 "...by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God..." and Luke 11 "Give us each day our daily bread," show that telling God what we want or need is a part of prayer, not separate from it. Even in the Old Testament (1 Samuel 1:10-11) Hannah prays for a son that she desperately wants. God knows you're a human and you have wants and desires. Ask for them. He loves us deeply, like a Father loves his toddler. If your petitions align with his will, you'll see them. Authority doesn't come from some guy in a suit with a silver tongue who shares bold words on a stage in a massive temple. It comes from sound doctrine, the Word of God, which LDS lack, as seen by the scripture I provided. "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:14 - Not a Doctoral Candidate, but I test everything and hold fast to ONLY what is good, which is not this heretical and easily refutable teaching.
