They do, they litterally see them as weird kittens, that's why they tend to be more patient with them than with adults

Fun fact/animal cognition theory: nearly all mammals recognize the young of other mammals because of cuteness proportions, ie, oversized head and eyes, because mammals in general nurture their young for much longer and mammalian cuteness is a nurture bait.

Probably, I saw my cat, who can be whiny if you hold him longer than 3 seconds, get held by the throat by my toddler. Twice. Didn't even attempt to run.

Can ABSOLUTELY confirm. My sister's cat is named Jaws for good reason. And he's 19lbs. Has scratched the F out of most of the family at one time or another. Complete dick. But the babies? He's never even batted at a baby.

They do, there are plenty of videos of cats protecting baby humans: stopping them from falling down stairs, climbing railings, etc.

Yep, they do, when I was a baby we had a cat that I would poke it's eye and pull its whiskers, but It always kept it's calm and showed me nothing but love, amazing animals.
