I think going beyond a “wait-and-see” outlook is wishful thinking. Maybe it works out. I hope it does. Just think anyone authoritatively opining on why this guy is a much better choice than the last guy is blowing hot air. Truth is no one knows what Aaron Glenn will be.

They knew I was frustrated. I think the world knew I was frustrated, being there so long and still losing. Austin Wells being the hitter that he was projected to be would change the Yankees lineup in such a big way. He was a 96th percentile framer last year and 93rd in 2024. (I think framing will still be a part of the game until they get rid of umpires entirely.) Even with getting benched last year because of his bat, he was a 3 WAR player according to Fangraphs in 2025, and had 3.5 in 2024. Now imagine if he could hit. Wells has a career 100 wRC+ — which is good for a catcher in the grand scheme of things, but it just feels like he can do so much more than that. If he juices that number a bit, he's easily one of the more valuable players in the league.
