Firstly, there is a front door and a rear door. Why not board the plane from both the front and the back at the same time? Would seem logical to me.

Makes to much sense

It would get bogged down when a bunch of people run to the front yelling "I'm first class, I should go first!". LOL. Air travel.

Itโs horrible

I'm avoiding it as much as possible right now. LOL

Mythbusterโs tested this and it was the slowest strategy. They tested other strategies too and the fastest was random aka free for all ordering.

Pilot here. The reason a commercial aircraft cannot be boarded in that manner is due to weight distribution while parked on the ramp. If you load the aft rows first while luggage is getting loaded to the aft compartment simultaneously, then the tail of the aircraft goes to ground and the flight is cancelled.

That is too funny because for years I have thought the same thing!! Youโre walking to the back of the plane with your luggage, trying not to hit people in their faces as youโre going by!

Exactly

No. Everyone thinks they're so smart, but fails to understand how normal people stow their luggage. AND/OR Maybe the airline knows more than some random passenger.

then heโs going to complain about all the overhead compartments in the front of the plane are all taken by the passengers in the back of the plane

You can't load back of plane first.

Omg thatโs so me ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐

lol ๐

I guess Iโm autistic tooโฆ I also never understood why anyone wants to board a plane first, being that eager to sit in a confined assigned seat for longer than neededโฆ why?

Amen to that guy!

Definitely

He does have a point!

He is 10000% right!!! Weโve said this for years. If there are assigned seats, load the plane back to front. OR start making planes like they have in Europe with forward and aft doors that are loaded simultaneously. ๐๐

Except the back of the bus people take all the overhead space.

They've already performed the simulations and physically verified them. I think Mythbusters did a show using that data. Boarding the last row first didn't appreciably change the time.

Thatโs called anxiety.

Yes it is

So all the people headed to the back will put their carryons in the front possibly leaving no space for people in the front. When the plane lands it would be chaos.

EVERYBODY knows this. EVERYBODY. I think they deliberately do it the wrong way around to punish you for refusing to pay fares higher than those in coach. First class passengers board first, then rows from front to back. This isn't incompetence, it's contempt.

Loading the plane from the rear first will throw off the weight balance and the nose will come off the ground. Do you want the plane to be stuck with it's nose in the air? Because that's how you get the plane stuck with it's nose in the air.

Common sense in one video.

Am I crazy or didnโt it used to be like that?? I remember boarding starting in the back

I fly first class and I sit at the bar til there are 5 people left in line to board. I'm not sitting in my seat for an extra 30 min moving my legs for everyone dragging their bullshit to overfill the overhead compartments.

Some airlines does boarding by Zones. The issue is that people have to rush on because of overhead storage space. Most often people have way too much carry on and my space is gone. Btw, hes sitting already so he must have rushed onto flight also.

They board in order of whoever payed most. So they get room overhead for their luggage.

This is the way it used to be done (except first class).

Thatโs the way it used to be done in the past, but once they started charging more for โcomfortโ seats, those people and the frequent flyers were given early access. Itโs all about money.

Its not that no one has figured this out. Its that first class and business customers would throw a fit if they were asked to board after everyone else. Its a human nature issue, not an engineering problem. That said, airlines that seat on a "first in first pick" basis and flights with only economy seats just want to see the world burn. In this regard.

Boarding row 40 also blocks row 39 as multiple people queue to try and fit into the row. This would back up through the whole plane. You'd have to use a staggered distribution of people every 3ish rows in order, so that multiple rows can get in at the same time. Failing that random is more efficient than row 40.

What does this have to do with Autism?

The reason to reward their customers who spend tens of thousands a year flying. They board first so they can get comfortable, grab a drink, and ensure their bag gets in the overhead bin. I know itโs illogical but itโs for service. I fly ALL the time and if an airline made me board last (bc I sit closer to the front of the plane) Iโd take my money (and companies money) and change airlines.

First class comes first

Technically no - first class is in group one but most airlines board their highest status first, and THEN boarding group one. So for example United airlines boards Premiere 1k which is their highest mileage status and some may even in be regular economy but they still fly the most. Then boarding group one which is a combination of Platinum status and Gold status and people flying first class. All airlines follow this

This experiment has been done and it makes no difference.

I've always thought, like this guy, that it would be more logical to board the people at the back of the plane first. Finally I looked into it and there's a bit of a problem:

@grok how does this manโs assertion of boarding method of back to front compare to other methods such as WILMA or others in terms of boarding times.

He's right. Back in the day, planes were boarded by row numbers. I remember them calling 5 or so rows at a time. Then they'd wait a couple of minutes and call the next block of rows. This was after they'd boarded the elderly or others needing assistance, and people flying with small children. If you missed your rows when called, you waited until general boarding call. The last time I flew I was really surprised at the boarding chaos.

Is everybody autistic now?
