When my brother passed, he was a heavy mechanic for a company that manufactured egg cartons. To my grateful surprise they shut the plant down and many of his co-workers showed up to his funeral. I suspect this is a very rare thing.

This guy Joe had a heart attack at where I worked and someone used the defibrillator to revive him, he survived. The CEO made a big speech at the next meeting about being a family and thank goodness we saved Joe, what would we do without him. Two months later Joe quietly got laid off

He's right on the money! One of our people got hit by a truck and was off for quite a while. At the next safety meeting, all management did was complain about losing their safety bonus for that year. They don't give a fuck about their employees!

We had a guy crushed to death at work in Australia a few years ago, a massive distribution warehouse with 1200 workers across three shifts working 24/7, the company closed the place down out of respect for him and his workers, they offered counciling to any who needed it.

That's because money and status has become more valuable than a human life.

I was one of those people that never took PTO. 24 years with same company. New management came is, i was out because I was Too expensive. Cheated me out of owed PTO, too!

When I was a craps dealer in Laughlin back in the early 90's a player fell over having heart attack, security came over started performing CPR...I was a young man at the time and pretty shaken by the whole thing. Once security moved the player away from the craps table the boxman (Supervisor) looked at me and said, "What are you wanting for? Get a roll", and the crap game continued on like nothing ever happened. I just thought, wow...nothing is scared anymore.

Back in 2008 I was working as a cashier at AM/PM. That owner was a c^&t. Treated everyone like trash. My coworker who had been there for at least a decade was in her late 70's went on her lunch break to Jack in the box across the street. SHE HAD A MASSIVE HEART ATTACK WHILE I'M THE DRIVE THRU AND DIED. WE WERE ALL SO HEARTBROKEN 💔 The fucking owner WROTE HER UP FOR NOT COMING BACK FROM LUNCH ON TIME! SHE REFUSED TO REMOVE THE WRITE UP EVEN AFTER THE CORNER SHOWED UP. My Mother in law worked at the same AM/PM, she was HELD AT GUN POINT and FORCED to open her register and the criminal stole the money. SAME OWNER WROTE MY MOTHER IN LAW UP FOR THEFT BECAUSE SHE WITH A GUN TO HER FACE SHOULD AND I QUOTE "NOT OPENED THAT REGISTER AND TAKEN THE SHOT!" That owner was taken to court and LOST over these actions.

Yup, my wife passed away at her job on a Friday afternoon. Monday morning her manager who always asked her to do extra tasks called & asked me to pick up her personal belongings. She gave me the box in the waiting area & through the glass I could see a new employee at her desk.

The people talking shit about him are the kind that like the taste of boot leather. He’s telling you to use your pto because work don’t give a shit about you. Some people flex they never use their pto.

To be honest he's right. Work dont care wether you live or die money in the end is all that matters to the company.

The world should stop spinning because someone died? Maybe grow up and be an adult. Life is tough. Suck it up.

Not quite the same for me, but I just moved about 50 miles further from where I work, I'm taking my "hard earned" vacation time (7 days) to sort things out. They called 2nd day into vacation and told me I had to come back next day. Guess who's not going back. I'll find work.

I used to work with a nursing assistant who could have retired but continued to work double shifts and OT to increase her pension. She had a heart attack at work, we did CPR and she died later in the hospital...never enjoying a minute of retirement or her pension. Take your PTO. Retire when you can. Enjoy your life because life is short.

Old man finally figures out that work is about work??

I think hes 100%. Even though Ive been a FTE with my employer for the last 30 years ive told many people my wife has me contracted out to work. Family over employer at all times.

He ain't wrong.

I get his anger but he probably needed that job. There is a way to communicate this without getting fired...probably

if I died at work the company wouldn’t care. But my team would. That’s enough for me.

Covid proved that employers don't care about employees. Many were fired or forced to get the clot shot

buddy who worked across trade floor dropped w/heart prob, went to hosp. day later, huge GET WELL card went around for signature, i wrote GET WELL JOE BUT IF YOU DON"T CAN I HAVE YOUR CAR? i was called by HR. but Joe laughed his ass off!!

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I get paid because I work... And produce...I'm not a charity... It has nothing to do with my feelings 🤣 I even work on the holidays and days off because I don't have anything better to do and I know my feelings don't matter .... Which doesn't bother me. I don't even care about my feelings 🤣.... I still get to tell everybody. I love them. Whether they love me or not ... Helping and loving. However, I feel while retaining the right to say ...fuck no not happening... While I'm not working 🤣...whenever I feel like it... Because I work... Work is the practice of producing something, so you're free in a society that requires you work to be free... Because if you're not doing that you're asking for shit all the time.... There is no way to twist that into anything other than what it is.. If I die tomorrow at work they'll replace me with someone else... That's what they're supposed to do.. that's what I sign up for...

Fuck work? I have to feed the people I love as much as I have to hug them.

He's not wrong, the show will go on, right or wrong. And I guess in some ways that is the way life is. When you go people might be sad for a day or two but life will have to go on, so enjoy it while you are here.

How did he get to that age still thinking otherwise. Your job/employer/coworkers aren't your family, the workplace isn't home, expecting them to behave as if they were is bizarre. No matter how, when, or why you exit, the response will be to insert a replacement, that's it.

He either works at Walmart or Amazon. Literally a guy got his finger ripped off in the back room of Walmart where I worked, and they made his friend clean up the blood

Society demonises anyone that doesn’t conform. Remember, you are the only person that looks after you and everything you work for is ultimately for someone else. Find the balance and enjoy life.

I was working in the trading/marketing room of a midstream company on 9/11/2001 and we were watching that tragedy at the WTC on screen unfold and an engineer/trader complained saying "I know it's a sad day but we have to trade gas!...". #OOTT #NG

There is not a single person that is NOT Replaceable. I learned this very young. You do not owe them anything but the hours you agree to work.... Give them 40 hours work for 40 hours pay. Thats it.

People have bills to pay - staying home because you “feel bad about it” is the decision of an adolescent.

💯Message heard and received sir! I would take your advice wholeheartedly EXCEPT, I have children, My Flesh and Blood whom I would NOT like to KNOW they work their lives away WHEN there is in fact a better way. My parents and especially My Grandparents had it so great they thought NOTHING of “taxes”. I promise, My Generation is DONE with these fucktards in Our Congressional-Welfare Recipient-body! I would LOVE to see this Useless bunch of fucks in Labor Camps WORKING OFF Their Debt to Society that They WILLINGLY took an Oath to SERVE! Only to do ANYTHING They could to line their Own pockets by The Corporations who paid (LOBBIED) Their Favor! Fuck the lot of Them! 💯😡🫵 ✝️🇺🇸✊🇺🇸✝️✌️

We are slaves to corporate America… We are nothing but numbers… We are slowly being financially strangled. Time to wake up

Can someone explain to me when it became a thing that your job is supposed to care about you like family? Its a place you go to make money.

No tombstone ever has said “I wished I would worked more.”
