Well said. So much of what we see of 'international politics' and even 'war' is a Punch & Judy show. There IS competition between actors for top roles in the show & the pyrotechnics are seriously dangerous for people in the front row, but the script is often quite predictable.

Well, we may not entirely agree, although your point is well made. Gaddafi wanted to build an African union before he was offed. I see Putin as more akin to Gaddafi. In effect there may be regional orders that manage themselves.

Almost certainly true. I add that this model, like the theatrical democracy of the west, gives the illusion of choice, of political diversity where there are instead false forced choices and Hegelian Lucha libre where plutocrats enjoy all the benefits of controlled opposition.
