Jeremy Hunt believes your real job is to pay to travel long-distances, sit in an office sending e-mails for eight hours, spend a tenner on lunch, and never see your kids Monday to Friday...to line the pockets of the landlords and businesses who fund the Conservative Party.

Why do people think an office water cooler is some kind of magical creative haven where world-changing ideas are relentlessly shared between enthusiastic coworkers? 🙄 True creativity hits you anywhere at any time and comes from focus, deep thinking and safety to think boldly.

What a great idea when there are skills shortages. Limit your talent pool to those in a small commute radius. Genius. That will make British companies world beating.

Bizarre. Surely the default should be that you work wherever you maximise your productivity for your employer? Sometimes that will be in an office. Sometimes not.

I presume his taking is the result of a thorough statistical & qualitative analysis in deep details of: tasks, skills, efficiency, efficacy, motivational level, logistical practicalibities and creativity nuances of each and every job on the mkt Put differently: WTF does he know?

workers should use enormous energy and resources making trillions of commutes to the office to do something 80-90% of which can be done in their home. But also I want to invest £20bn in Carbon Capture. All makes sense to me Jez.

I think Mr Hunt is out-of-touch. Many businesses benefit from utilising remote and/or hybrid working practices & wether he & his kind like it or not, it is here to stay.

… surely the default should be remote work unless there’s good reason to have someone in the office? We have the technology for remote working, so making someone spend 2 hours off their day in a commute with all the qol and environmental impacts that entails needs justifying
