At the same time, they say that the war will not end until Russian troops are near Kyiv.

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker (my two cents) below): I think the Russian threat sometimes is a little overstated. They have not had a lot of success. And to your point, Ukraine has actually taken back territory. To me, that points to a weakness in Russia, and as their economy continues to falter, I think their continuation of this war is going to be difficult. My input: Russia has not had a lot of success in Ukraine because Ukrainian Defenders make a tremendous effort, and the West supplies Ukraine with weapons. Yes, Ukraine has retaken our territories, but this is first and foremost a compliment to Ukrainian skill. Russia does not play by the rules, Putin knows that his power relies on Russia waging a war, and Russia does not care about its people. NATO has named Russia as its most significant threat, and Russia remains one.

Russia isn't defeating Ukraine on the battlefield. Three vulnerability points that Russia sees in Ukraine within the war: ◾️Europe and the United States: decrease Allies' aid to Ukraine as much as possible (weapons and money), avoid new sanctions from the United States, block any decisions regarding the frozen Russian assets. ◾️Ukraine's internal political situation: disrupt the stability of power. ◾️The frontline which would be negatively affected by the previous two points. Russia's main goal is Europe. Putin spoke the truth yesterday: he's ready to attack, and Europe won't be able to withstand the attack. Putin sees the fear of war and Europe's lack of readiness to fight a war, so he will keep returning to this. ‼️To this day, Europe is in a position of waiting and defense - not in the position of confrontation and anticipating the enemy's actions. Europe must finally start acting proactively, not giving in - while that is still possible. When nothing is done for a long time, the possibility of doing at least something is often lost. If there is a threat, it needs to be destroyed, not be observed from a hiding place. In case of attack, a counterattack is necessary. This provides a chance for survival. It's time for Russia to think about mobilizing a couple of million men for war against Europe, – Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Chechen special forces unit Akhmat, called for general mobilization in Russia last week. "If such a situation about general mobilization arises, we should gather an army of at least a couple of million – we will put [our enemies] in a position from which they will never come out again," he said. Alaudinov also said that the war against Ukraine could move to a new stage, in which all kinds of weapons would be used and which would lead "to the final victory over Europe and the collapse of NATO." "Either the NATO bloc will collapse, and we will finish off Europe, or they will stop and agree to any conditions just to make peace with us.
