Politicians do not seem to understand that investment decisions are made with time horizons of years. Governments changing the regulatory landscape every few months creates uncertainty and is unlikely to revive an industry killed by net-zero obsession. The car industries in the UK and Europe have been truly shafted by politicians. ICE cars were under threat from EVs anyway, but politicians intervened haphazardly and industry leaders failed to acknowledge Chinese competence in EVs. Unions were unable to accept labour-reduction plans. Suspect the European car industry will go the way of the British car industry.
