Y was my first pokemon game but nostalgia aside, Kalos is definitely not pale when it comes to its routes lol. Alola too but if we’re just talking routes Kalos definitely has some of the best route designs in the series.

No way lol Compared to gen 1-4 kalos has incredibly linear design with little too explore. It's a step above unova maybe but still disappointing compared to gen1-4

@MizukiAlola That's not true. Many of xy's routes have so many secret paths that lead to items. Like kalos is more linear than like kanto as a region, but to say it has too little to explore i just can't agree with

@MizukiAlola There's nothing to find on those routes even when there's an occasional side path. You can't compare this to any previous gen, even kanto has numerous ways to get to different cities and multiple optional dungeons

Lying for NO reason. Alola’s locations are very much varied. Not to mention it’s not a route centric region like Hoenn, and most routes will reasonably start off with grass/rock and change into something else later.

I agree, like I said I really like Alola I believe SM is THE BEST 3D Pokemon game But you still spend a lot of time in routes, yeah they spend a lot of the effort in more important location, but that still makes the routes just not that memorable. It’s one of my few critiques

Hoenn’s routes don’t really stand out either though, he’s showing the best Hoenn route and comparing that to the beginning part of every Alola route. Just not a good comparison imo. I’m sorry we disagree😭

I mean tbf, maybe. While the routes in Alola aren’t that interesting they usually lead to extremely well designed and interesting locations. Most of the trial grounds are peak and better than the gyms. And in Hoenn all of the water routes feel the same, at least to me 😭

I’m a big fan of Alola and played Sun/Ultra Moon but just being honest it’s the most forgettable region for me. To this day I have the gen 3 routes memorized but I cant picture Gen 7 at all except for the general biome
