Looks like she dribbles the ball to control the pass. Grabs the ball, and dribbles again. If that’s what happened, it’s a violation.

That’s a double dribble all day long. She gathers the ball with a dribble and then dribbles again.

This used to ALWAYS be called a double dribble because it's bounced to the floor with one hand, then she gathers and dribbles it again. It always had to be a clean catch. Lately it's not been called. They don't worry about how you gather. She got caught by an old school ref. HA!

At first glance to me, it looked like one dribble and a pickup. That's in real time and from only one angle. In review, no, not a double dribble. But these aren't pro players ... and no where close So stop expecting pro refs ... or anywhere close.

The ref believes that she controlled the ball on the pass and dribbled it; which is different than muff/fumble in which control would not be gained and she would be allowed to do this move…judgement call on the pat down/dribble and whether she had control of the ball or not.

Ask her assistant coach if she doubled dribbled. Looks like she called it right away.

It is up to how the ref sees it. If the ref thinks she knocked it down to gain control it is not a double dribble. If the ref thinks she controlled it, stopped and dribbled again then it is.
