🩷 : I bought a self-improvement book about how to get better at talking to people. I’m really not good at making conversation, especially with people I’m not close to. The version of me around my friends and my fans is exactly the same, but when I’m around other people, I’m actually not very good at making conversation. I was talking with my friends about a conversation I had with a celebrity I follow on social media, even though we’re not close. My friend was like, “Why didn’t you keep the conversation going?” and I replied, “Wait, really? I supposed to do that right?” It probably makes me seem stuck-up, but honestly, I’m just scared. I keep worrying, “What if they don’t want to talk to me?” So I don’t dare to start a conversation or say too much. But my friend told me, 'Just go for it! You never know if they want to talk to you or not. Sure, it might feel a little awkward or funny if it turns out they don't want to talk with you, but that's how you get closer to people.' I hate that I still have to have this conversation... but I will keep having it in the hopes that at least one person HEARS me... "Twitch do wonderful things but we can always do better... men need to realise the damage they're doing and how they're supressing women on #twitch" Obviously this goes for all online spaces, I was just having a conversation about Twitch but the internet IS a PUBLIC SPACE where you're connected to people from all walks of life. Your words have consequences! Everyone should be safe from abuse etc. It's REALLY not hard to be respectful. TRY imagine if you was in their shoes...
