i vibecoded a portfolio! features: • windows xp desktop • interactive bookshelf • working ipod • hidden matrix easter egg (+ many others) i built this as a love letter to the 2000s internet: flash games & windows xp, when digital spaces felt alive.

THIS GUY BUILT A FULLY FUNCTIONAL WINDOWS XP SIMULATION AS HIS PERSONAL WEBSITE it started as a simple XP-themed site and turned into a full simulation draggable windows, start menu, taskbar, Winamp music player. the whole thing you can actually click around, open programs, drag windows, play games, and use it like a real desktop this is the kind of creativity you need when building a personal site to show off your portfolio

back in 2015 when i was hacking the CIA and waiting for my Finnish citizenship i knew they were coming for me so i used to keep a dedicated Windows XP computer to mess around with when i was stressed it would take my mind to a different place

Kimi K3 built a browser-based Windows XP environment, and it goes way beyond a visual mockup. It recreates the desktop, system UI, and old software behavior closely enough to feel like a usable web-native OS layer. It can even run games like GTA: Vice City and Red Alert 2. That is a much more interesting result than a simple nostalgic interface demo. Cc: AB Kuai.Dong

Grok 4.5 just built a full macOS-style web OS in one shot and actually crushed it. Single HTML file with embedded CSS + JS. From one prompt it delivered: > macOS menu bar + dock > Draggable and resizable app windows > Functional file explorer > Working terminal + browser mockup > SVG desktop icons + notifications > Settings app with theme switching > Fully functional sound player (real Web Audio synthesis) > Playable games inside the desktop Almost no corrections needed. The working sound system and interactive elements inside the windows is where most models usually fall apart, but this one handled it cleanly. Grok 4.5’s frontend and UI generation is actually on another level right now. SpaceXAI

💾 Okay I finally bought a Raspberry Pi 5 to make into a real retro computer as a proof of concept I love the Raspberry Pi much more than my ESP32 simply because I can SSH into it and it's just like a normal computer or server, the ESP32 required specific software to re-flash it everytime and it was TEDIOUS!!!! I need a fast feedback loop to develop with so all this flashing is too slow for me The Raspberry Pi 5 instead just runs Linux which then runs DOSBox-X to run Windows 3.11 install live downloaded from there so it stays fresh I then also got a Checkmate 19" IPS Retro Monitor by Stephen Jones (very indie and Kickstarter-style product) which is like a vintage retro PC monitor but with an OLED and it runs at 1280x1024, and the Raspberry Pi 5 has HDMI out so it works perfectly with it Then I got an 8BitDo retro IBM keyboard, but the spacebar broke, so I gotta send it back and get a new one, but it was great while it worked, so it's not in this video, and I got the 8BitDo retro mouse So altogether it's a proof of concept of a real vintage retro PC with internet and it works now My end goal is to make this into production and SELL it, not for money but more for fun because I think it should exist, just like Palmer Luckey's ModRetro Chromatic Gameboy-remake I'd go with something smaller than this 19" checkmate display though, it's great but too big for the Windows 3.11 era I think, more like 14" with a matching sized retro IBM-style keyboard and Windows 3.11 preinstalled (if legally allowed by Satya Nadella) with WiFi working out of the box We could also go with Windows 98/XP, because for me too Windows 3.11 was a very short time, so I too have vague memories of it, most of my computing memories is Windows 98/XP etc. Inside it could simply run on a Raspberry Pi 5 like here, which is easily powerful enough to run all of these OS'es I see many SF founders with Apple II's in their living room, and I guess cause Apple was more popular there back then, but in the rest of the world we were mostly IBM PCs and clones that ran Windows, so it's cool to have that as one retro object working with internet in your living room Anyway, step by step, we're here now 😊

Just built a full macOS-style Browser OS using Baidu’s ERNIE 5.1 I can’t lie it smoked DeepSeek V4 on web dev. Smooth desktop UI, draggable windows, working apps, file system… all running 100% in-browser. This model is alright for creative coding not the best obviously. Efficiency + decent performance is the new meta.

This is by far the best 3DGS scan of my kitchen. I love how the light reflects on my dining room table from the bay windows. I still struggle to be able to deal with the high dynamic range between the inside and outside though. The windows are overexposed which means you can't see anything outside well. Does anyone have a good solution to this? Shoot raw and globally adjust? I would love to share notes with anyone working on this challenge at #CVPR2026 #3DGS #ComputerVision

💾 pieter™'s Windows 3.11 PC is now connected to another retro computer on the web It's Ryo Lu's Ryos X, a MacOS X inspired Web OS where you can listen music, watch videos, play games, browse the web and now chat with people on my retro PC too My dream with this project was to connect it to other retro computers on the web so they can all participate as first class citizens on the internet eventhough they're all old computers running in your browser, and that's happening now 😊 My dreams to see in the browser AND connected to the real internet: - Atari ST (we had one as kids for awhile) - Amiga (never had one, but heard a lot about it) - Apple II (every SF guy has this one at home) - Windows XP (I wanna do it but it's hard cause 32-bit)

Earlier this year, I created an interactive post-apocalyptic-themed landing page for Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum metal legends Megadeth! It serves as the signposting for their exclusive digital all-access pass and includes a bunch of easter eggs inspired by the band's lore. Built with Rive 🤘🏻

I have been working on a Roblox game. I want players to catch a feeling when they enter the raid hall for the first time.. I have been spending a lot of time on the vibes in the raid hall and class design the past few days. No cash grab games here, no pay to win.. just a fun original experience. I want to create Roblox games that don't feel like roblox games. Attention to details, even down to the candle flames and stained glass windows. Does this look like somewhere you'd want to spend time and explore? 🔊 Sound on for feels #robloxdev #robloxgame #roblox #gamedev

Watching this scene was when I realized that Zenkaiger is actually one of the greatest Sentais ever. You have to REALLY love the franchise to write a joke THIS good, with THIS many little easter eggs and references.

Started at an Anthropic Hackathon in February. Today, Matrix OS (Matrix OS) is live, giving a computer for your AI agents so they don't die when you close your laptop. But for me, the story started much earlier. When I was six, I could barely read, but I would spend hours clicking through Windows XP just trying to understand what a computer could do. I think I’ve been obsessed with that question ever since. Over the past 3.5 years, I’ve built intensively with AI. I kept seeing the same pattern: the models were getting incredibly capable, but the computer around them was still designed for a human sitting in front of a screen, clicking around and typing. I joined forces with Nima Naderi, we kept building, and today we’re opening signups, shipping Matrix and our desktop app, and announcing our first angel round, backed by Alexander Wikström 🇸🇪, Michiel Bakker, Salar al Khafaji, Ash Barbour, Mattias Miksche, Fredrik Björk, Siddharth Khullar, and Prompt among others. Since we are backed by the best, we brought NighXXX , Elizabeth and Valerie Wiström to help build and achieve one mission. Our mission is to give everyone a Personal Cloud Computer 💚 PS: We’re also hiring engineers in Stockholm and around the world. If rethinking what a computer can be; sounds like your kind of problem, come build with us!

“I Love This Game.” 1995. Back when the NBA didn’t need algorithms or hot takes to sell basketball. Just raw emotion, goosebumps, and players who lived for the game. Every commercial felt like a love letter to hoops, not content. Simpler times.
