The Left uses this as their playbook. Cold War tactics of destabilization, demoralization, normalization and insertion of crisis in repetition have made it so the people can no longer distinguish truth from a lie. They believe in nothing.

We didn’t get Kimmel canceled… look at his ratings. ABC was just itching for a way out of their contract with him.

I still think there is a pretty major difference between firing people for flat out lying and doing what democrats did and firing people for telling inconvenient truths

My only critique is the statement that the government had Kimmel removed, if that’s the case, how is it that he is going to be back on the air on Wednesday?

You’re right. Of course, you’re right. The right shouldn’t engage in what we are morally opposed to. (and here’s the …) BUT - the right tried calling it out. That failed. We opposed it, the left did it anyway. Allowing your opponent to use their own rules and weapons against you without responding is foolish - they won’t. So we feel that there’s no option but to try it their way for a while and see if they can see the light. And, in the process, especially after Charlie, there’s a great deal of satisfaction and schadenfreude to be had in the process. And, to be clear, we happen to believe it was the dehumanization of the right as Nazis and fascists that led to Charlie Kirk’s murder. We feel that if we don’t change what is civilly acceptable in political discourse, it will continue. The question to ask is whether, after some period of time shorter than the right is in power, can they let off the accelerator and stop it? I have no idea. I sure as hell hope so. But that time is not yet now. And it probably won’t be terribly soon. We had a guy who believed in talking no matter what - and they killed him. So now this is what’s next. But you are right, it will need to stop. Sometime. Later. Just not now.

I would suggest you look at FCC regulations which the left has violated for at least a decade. ABC and Kimmel have grossly violated them. When I queried it: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) does not have a general regulation against lying on television, but it does prohibit broadcast stations from intentionally distorting the news, which the FCC considers a serious violation of the public interest. Kimmel and those who wrote his monologue intentionally distorted the news to say the assassin was MAGA.

@elonmusk I’ll put this into perspective for why getting people fired on the Left for their horrifying behavior is actually good: it’s the moderate option. And furthermore, no civilized society should permit the open celebration of murder. Free speech is being abused to allow for this.

She described Kirk as her first boss and credited him with inspiring her career. Harmony’s suspension and resignation have sparked debate about media bias and freedom of expression, as she believes she was penalized simply for honoring him. But kimmels firing is fascist. The move to cancel Kimmel was in response to public reaction and the withdrawal of 1/3 of ABCs affiliates from broadcasting future installments of Kimmel. The “government pressure” claim is not founded. But $50 million in annual loses on Kimmel made the decision easy for ABC.

These "I warned you" posts are getting old.... so many of the "I warned you" people (Trad Libs mainly) were quiet as mice when the woke were forming in the early aughts, quiet in the 2010s... etc. They downplayed it as campus hijinks... You all were so late to the game, it's one of the reasons we are dealing with this woke shit now... I agree with you - but let’s be honest about Jimmy Kimmel. The ‘reason’ was just an excuse. His show was tanking, and this was the chance to push him out. And it’s not just a left issue - it’s a "woke" issue. Sure, it started on the left, and much more prominent there, but we’re seeing the same self-righteousness on the right too (look at Tucker Carlson or Candace Owens in the USA). Anyone who thinks they alone hold the truth is dangerous - whether it’s Islamism, far-left ideology, woke dogma, or nationalism.

The Right’s perceived danger of Kimmel's misinformation (whether intentional or not) isn’t that Kimmel will be believed. The perceived danger is that Kimmel is providing a roadmap to excuse the next one. Not only is Kirk deserving, the transgender leftist is also innocent. Logical? No. But as you say, an ostrich isn’t that stupid. In this context, the issue is no longer free speech, it becomes incitement to violence, which is not protected by the First Amendment.

Some clarity is needed here. The FCC did not implicitly get involved to penalize ABC. Rather, FCC Chair Brendan Carr commented on whether the network’s content and practices aligned with the public interest after public statements from Nexstar, about pulling Jimmy Kimmel Live! from their schedules. No formal enforcement action or warning was issued to ABC. TLDR: -Nexstar (ABC Affiliates): WTF, we're not airing Kimmel if he's gonna pull crap like this. - Carr: Hey ABC, do you really think this serves the public interest? - ABC: Crap, we've got enough problems and backlash on our plate. Suspend him to get pressure off our ass while we figure this crap out. While some may still position this as government (FCC) overreach regarding regulation, he's not regulating (fines, warnings, etc.). Part of the FCC's role is to ensure broadcasters serve the public interest. It's broad and vague and IMO does need to be better defined, but he didn't actually act against ABC, more like finger-wagged.
