I was correct. Kean reports that his absence was due to “depression” after going for “testing.” NJ mental health professional here. While he has my empathy, he is *not* being fully transparent. Only a major event/complications would require a hospitalization & 4 month leave. 1/3

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—and for me, it’s personal. After losing my football career, I battled depression. It took ownership, action, and a 5-year journey to heal. Mental health matters. Seeking help is strength, not weakness. Keep going—you’re not alone. #FindAWay #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalHealthMatters #YouAreNotAlone

Rep. Tom Kean Jr., R-N.J., said Tuesday that recovery from depression had sidelined him from public life for months. “When people hear the word ‘depression,’ many people think it means feeling sad, but depression is so much more than that,” said Kean, speaking from the House floor as he returned to Congress. “It is physical, it is emotional and until you experience yourself, it is difficult to fully understand how powerful this illness can be.” Absent for nearly four months, questions around Kean’s unspecified medical condition had swirled in recent weeks, as voters in his state chose midterm candidates and Kean missed vote after vote in Congress. He last voted in early March. Kean said Tuesday that a hospital visit months ago led to him being diagnosed with depression and, under doctors’ recommendations, remained at the hospital for treatment. Kean said he thought he could “simply push through” and quickly return to his duties, his family, constituents and Congress, but that he decided to abide by doctors’ orders. “There is no timeline for healing. There is no timeline for recovery. Only the work of getting better, one day at a time,” he said. His experience, Kean added, gave him a “deeper appreciation” for millions who face mental health challenges every day. “Many do so quietly. Many do so alone. Many do so while carrying burdens that the rest of us never see,” he said. “And to them, I say: Asking for help is not a weakness, it is a strength.”

A citizen of Tajikistan, a neurologist with 30 years of experience, and the father of 11 children, decided to help Russia in the war with Ukraine and signed a one-year-long contract with the Russian army. He was promised an officer's rank, but in the end, he was appointed a private, and later, it turned out that although his contract was up, no one was going to let him go. Now he complains that he has been accused of absence without official leave, receives only 50-100 rubles a month, and is being sent to the frontline. All he can do now is to make a video appeal, as letters to all institutions, even to Putin, did not lead to anything.

Ricky Hatton was found dead at his Greater Manchester home this morning. Reports suggest he took his own life. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a body was found and stated that the death is not being treated as suspicious. Ricky had faced many well-documented personal problems and mental health issues, but he appeared to have overcome them and was doing well. Very sad.

#WATCH | Punjab Warehousing Corporation (PWC) official suicide case in Amritsar | Wife of deceased Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, Upinder Kaur says, "...Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar tortured my husband a lot. My husband was made so helpless that he took his own life...He was told that his family, his children, would be finished off and gangsters would be put after him. He was tortured a lot on 13th March at his office. On Saturday morning, yesterday, he took his own life. I have 3 young children. I have a mother-in-law. All of us demand justice. Make arrests. Postmortem and last rites will be conducted only after that...I want justice and nothing else. After he came back on 13th March, he had told me everything...He had even made a complaint to his department. They only kept giving him assurances, but nothing happened...FIR was not registered initially under government's pressure...This was all done because a tender was not passed. It was being implied that my husband was not passing it deliberately...I fear for my life; security should be provided to my children and me...If anything happens to us, this Govt would be responsible for it..."
