I was impressed when my team showed me this example of intelligence and behavioural generalisation. Watch this — seeing a person bow to welcome our car to move forward is definitely not something I've seen outside of Japan. Yet in this clip you can see our AI Driver recognise... that this person is asking us to stop. We have the intelligence to understand the context that we shouldn't nudge around them, rather hold in place, despite no signage or red light. Then, if you keep watching, you'll see we recognise the bow and a wave as permission to drive through the road works. Less than 1% of our training data is from Japan. Our AI is trained end-to-end. There are no explicit rules or labelling, no explicit gesture or body pose recognition, this is all learned capability that is scalable and data-driven. If you, for example, look at storage of personal data, obviously a lot of Europeans are angry that their personal data is stored outside of the EU. So we have to build our own data centers and our own AI factories so we can actually own the data of our own citizens. But in the end, there is no such thing as European full autonomy. You will always need to collaborate with our friends in Canada, in the US, in other partnerships around the world. ASML and other tech companies can play a crucial role both in the US and here.

But the Summit of the Future showed that with a spirit of dialogue and compromise, we can join forces to steer our world to a more sustainable path. As this year’s #UNGA activities wind down, we must remember that this is not the end. It is in all our interests to choose the future we want and to guide our world towards it. The journey continues. Let’s keep going.

One reason I stay a bit quite about AI these few months. I can’t find my voice to say this right. I’ll try. — What has my AI found just in the millions of never saved TV from the 1980s-1990s? The simple commercial, I have the largest collection known in the world is a reflection of hyper nuanced humanity. Frail and over optimistic as it is, it shows the sprit of humanity in ways that self-hating 2010 Internet sewage training AI can not. It is interesting to have dark humor, when you know the soul of the person with the humor. It is not interesting to have dark humor from an AI that was not trained on the human spirit. The human sprit is not math, coding and science. This is the OUTCOME of a human sprit. We are training AI backwards and we just can’t see it yet, but we will. I am doing may best as “some posted on X” who has no currency in the “big boy” AI world to save the human sprit. We will need it one day and most of this training material is being erased, trillions of bytes daily. This is the secret to truthful AI. This is the secret to AI that LOVES humanity. We don’t get this right soon, there will be little chance. The data is… Almost gone.

Today we're announcing #GAIA1: a 9B parameter world model, trained on 4,700 hours of driving data, able to simulate complex and diverse driving scenes from video, text and action inputs. This model is 480x larger than the preview we shared earlier this year and the results are incredible. These videos are entirely synthetically generated by Wayve's generative AI, GAIA-1. But there is more here than just generating videos, GAIA is an entire world model. A world model allows us to simulate the future, conditioned on video, text and action inputs, which can be leveraged for making informed decisions when driving. Why is this game-changing for autonomous driving? 1. Safety. One limitation with AI systems like today's Large Language Models is that they are autoregressive, next-word prediction algorithms, but aren't necessarily aware of the implications of their decisions. A world model allows us to give our AI the capability to be aware of its decisions, by simulating the future, which is important for self-driving safety. 2. Synthetic training data. I believe synthetic training data is the future for AI, because it is safer, cheaper, and infinitely scalable. GAIA-1 unlocks unprecedented realism and diversity of synthetic data for self-driving. 3. Long-tail robustness. One of the biggest challenges for self-driving is long-tail robustness: dealing with the enormous magnitude of edge cases we see on the road. An advantage of generative AI is its incredible ability to recombine experiences in new ways. This is exciting for self-driving as it means we can learn from two edge case scenarios, and combine them to become a corner case. For example, we can experience driving in fog, and experience of jay-walking pedestrians, and GAIA can learn from these experiences to understand how to generate a fog+jay walking scenario. The Christian Sexual Ethic from Ligonier. In this seminar, Drs. Rosaria Butterfield and Christopher Yuan look at the Christian sexual ethic and how it compares and contrasts with the way the world understands sexual identity. Rosaria: “Christians need to know what TIME it is.” Rosaria: “The first is to think that there is such a thing as a gay person, or a lesbian person, to actually think that your personhood or your image-bearing is attached. There is no such thing as a person made in the image of God as a lesbian, or a gay man, or a transgender. You are made in the image of God as a man or made in the image of God as a woman.” Christopher Yuan: “We need to make sure that our indwelling sin is something that we are mortifying, putting to death, that we aren't then coddling it and saying, "Well, it's, it's really neutral." Incredible last few minutes of the Rick Rubin / Adam Neumann interview. I got chills listening to this. --- Adam: We'll connected to this week's portion. We all have something that we're slaves to. We all have an addiction to anger, to ego, to power, whatever it is, idol worship that we have. We all have an Egypt. We all need to leave that Egypt, come out of it. When we come out of that Egypt, we all face a Red Sea. When we see that Red Sea, we all need to have the courage to walk into it so far that we drown. Only when we're willing to drown will the Red Sea be split and we'll go to our next level. We then go to our next level. We see the Red Sea split. Suddenly we're like, oh, everything is okay. And we forget. The moment we forget, we step into the desert. We all have to walk through our version of desert. That desert is between us, us, and God. No one else. The only decision we get to have is how long we're going to journey through that desert. Are we going to journey for 14 days like the children of Israel were supposed to? Or are we going to journey for 40 years because we're not learning our lesson? Our choice is not, are we going to get into the desert or not? It's how long will we be in. And once we go out of that desert, we all have our version of the promised land. And if we have the courage to look inside, see our own correction, our own limitation, look at it clearly now and say, I see you, and I'm going to get over it. I'm going to learn. I'm going to grow. I'm going to understand that life is not about falling down. It's about how I'm going to get up. I'm going to fall 1,000 times so I can get up 1,001 times. And in that last time when I get up and I'm actually ready to go to my next level, I'm going to wish for you, for me, and for everybody who are listening — please, may we have the courage to go to our next level because we know that the promised land is waiting right after it. 60 years ago, Ronald Reagan gave Americans a warning that has stood the test of time. This is from Reagan's "Time for Choosing" speech: "If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth. And this idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except to sovereign people, is still the newest and most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This is the issue of this election. Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves." "You and I are told increasingly that we have to choose between a left or right, but I would like to suggest that there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down--up to a man's age-old dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order--or down to the ant heap totalitarianism, and regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course." ... The world will end up in a better place, but it doesn't mean that everybody ends up in a better place." Asked by Ben Smith about how he views the politics of AI and the data center build out, Governor Josh Shapiro says: "AI is being developed. The real question is, is it going to be developed here in the US or in communist China? My view is that all of us should want it developed in the US. The US should lead on this. This is a national security issue. I think this is an issue that threatens our freedom if we allow China to overtake us when it comes to AI development."
