The Democratic Party I grew up with went into working towns and said we're going to make your lives better and they meant it. Let me tell you about a moment in May of 2016 that I've never forgotten. I was with Trump in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I started asking people why they were there. One young man told me his father had worked at a factory for 30 years. He'd been there 12. They closed it and he was working at Lowe's and delivering pizza at night. I got hit in the head with a rock in that moment because I grew up the same way. I looked at that young man and asked what should we do. He said I don't know, but we were once blue collar and economically aspirational. Now we're blue collar and economically desperational.
