The Nigerian system though 🤦🏾‍♂️ There are supposed to be registered ROADWORTHINESS specialists who give certificates after thorough checks of the vehicle and those certificates are supposed to be in government’s monitoring websites for confirmation. But in Nigeria, everything is upside down. Nothing is done proper. The confusion in the country just shows there is no good leadership, no service monitoring, no accountability. This will attract a fine in modern climes though. It may not even get to this because your vehicle won’t be on the road as the roadworthiness won’t be granted with expired tyres anyway.

Tire expiration is dependent on many variables…mileage the tire has covered, driving habits etc…not ‘necessarily on the manufactured date…

They freed this guy just because he was making a video o, Road Safety Officers (Ifo local government) has once ticketed my car for this same reason about 3years ago!!! First and the only time I'll experience that in my life. The only thing i made sure I did was to make the payment through remita, so i was very sure it was not a bribe but they wasted my time o (had to go to a nearby cafe to make the payment and came back to their office again later) 🤣😅🤣

Why didn’t he use the tire 🛞 thread measure to measure the tire. Tire is rubber that doesn’t disintegrate when not use. Bloody criminal.

Look at those enforcing all the laws on innocence citizens. Federal Road Safety don't even have a functioning fire extinguisher. This is road danger , right there.

There is alot we need 2learn frm this situation.Manufactured date don't if not in use 4years don't mean expirydate. Most common way to determine expired tyre is D tread of Depth in(mm).You can still get new peugeot504 don't mean it's not roadworthy bcuz it manufactured 38+yrs ago

This is Correct. Tyres are supposed to be used for only 3 years and not 4 for sedans. For suv, 5 years But we don't produce tyres in Nigeria So we have to find a way around it. Every tyre has front and back. D age of tyre is always in d front. Put the front inside Chikena

We need innovation, and I like the fact that they have bodycam now, something the NPF, NSCDC, Customs, NDLEA, EFCC needed more. I hope we get there!. Vehicle worthiness certification for each and every vehicles plying the road, and it should be automatic depending on the car, some are worthy for 6 months, some 12 months and some 24 months like that. The moment your car worthiness is not up to date you get a reminder before a fine should you fail to go for vehicle inspection. At the vehicle inspection site, they will list whatever needs to be fixed on your car, you will make sure to go fix it and then come back for another inspection until worthiness is established. No serious country has the luxury of servicemen and the expenses that comes with it by enforcing road worthiness in this manner, it’s somehow archaic. Time is money, and it should be prioritize by all sector. Let’s refrain from stopping people for some flimsy offense you can digitally enforced and penalized.

Most people here don’t get the good side of this video, the officer did very well and ensured proper safety maintenance. He was educating him to be mindful of the tires when buying and check the manufacturer exp. date even if he is buying it as a new tires from someone.

While he is absolutely right and was a gentle man about it, not trying to rip you off. I would have loved you to check the tire of their own vehicle

This is close to lake Mall, you should have checked the tyres on their vehicle pack over there, if the truck is with good tyres, then, they have a case but if not, is nonsense.
