In 15s, I lost faith in the Tomb Raider remake. "When I could increase Lara's power, I felt much more engaged". I so disagree. The beauty of classic Tomb Raider is that YOU the player get better, not Lara. What made Tomb Raider's game design legendary was the interplay between moveset & level design. As you mastered Lara's capabilities, you learned what to look for, and how to be faster, more decisive, confident, agile, precise, and lethal. There was nothing to unlock. Just you, vulnerable, versus agressive wilderness, scary ruins unopened for centuries, intimidating heights, perverse traps & terrifying myths. Too many game designers believe their job is adding noise, systems w/ artificial points & stats & skill trees & buffs, as if it was more engaging than a pure kinetic experience.
