I do set up texture atlases in Live2D for vtuber models which is very similar!!

In 3D at least i hate it. It has a puzzle vibe to it but it's mega tedious. Though can't aregue that the pleasure of finding the right placement for it all to fit is hard to describe :3

It effects overall quality score, which is an average of sewing quality and grain quality! Good sewing can offset quite a bit of the score from the cuts. Early game dresses have very low quality requirements so not worth the time to make everything perfect til later in the game!

Congrats, you've discovered piecing (using whatever fabric you have regardless of grain to make the pattern pieces, even making a large piece from multiple scraps) from sheer stubbornness! Sewists have been doing this for centuries cuz fabric is expensive. Welcome to the club!
