I will never understand how fentanyl is enjoyable.

Fentanyl is not what’s enjoyable. It’s the release of pain from emotional suffering that gives the user peace. Until it doesn’t. If you’re not an addict it’s not for you to understand. 9 years- we can and do recover.

I watched my mom struggle with it for 5 years, which landed her in rehab twice. She’s been to hell and back and took us all with her, so it’s kind of a sensitive topic in my house.

@FreedomMagaUS Get over it. Support your mother or walk away. You have a choice.

@14CaponeNerft @FreedomMagaUS Well she has dementia today, so really hard to “support” what she did to herself. 🤡

Following a recent spinal fusion surgery, the nurse in recovery said she could give me fentanyl to reduce the pain if I needed it. Of course I said “do it” and she administered the drug. Thr almost immediate effect of the drug was indescribable so it’s easy to see how people get addicted to it.

Yeah, my mom was on fentanyl patches for 5 years because of fibromyalgia. They made her feel better, but had lots of side effects (constipation, nausea, headaches, slow reaction time). Now she’s 77 with dementia, so who knows what the long term effects of fent are.

@cogrumpyvet You know what's weird about fibromyalgia? From roughly 2010 to 2020, half my extended family was claiming to have debilitating fibromyalgia and pounding opioids for the pain. Weirdly, no one talks about it that much anymore. You just triggered a memory.

@cogrumpyvet It was a very popular diagnosis in the early 2000’s.

Warmth. Immediate. Indiscriminate. A slow, golden heat spreading through your veins, like honey poured into cold water. The city noise in your skull Gone Your thoughts blur. Soften. The past loses its teeth. There is only this moment thick, slow, wrapped in velvet.

I understand why my mom liked it so much. She had a lot of trauma.

The hospital gave me fentanyl after I tore a rib muscle, it was fucking glorious. If you’ve never felt the warm blanket of opioids wrap itself around you, you’ll never understand.

@SenorChucho13 Opiates nearly killed my mom. She did two stints in rehab. I think I’m ok, thanks.

Mama Scoob's profile picture

@SenorChucho13 Then how do you even ask this question? If ANYONE should understand you should. Be better.

Zero Tolerance Policy's profile picture
Zero Tolerance Policy5 months ago

@SenorChucho13 Because I don’t understand why she robbed herself of many years through addiction, and destroyed our relationship. Why is this hard for you? No drug is worth that.

@MamaScoobiJ @SenorChucho13 “Because it feels good” isn’t a valid reason to off yourself.

Addiction is from trauma and fentanyl kills the pain it's easy to explain but you are right, you will never understand.

Zero Tolerance Policy's profile picture
Zero Tolerance Policy5 months ago

I understand how it “kills the pain,” because I’ve seen it firsthand. But it kills the user in the process, which isn’t really a good trade off.

SomeRandomPerson's profile picture

@JoeyPeters30632 if you understood how it kills the pain, then you’d understand why the trade-off isn’t a big deal.

It’s causing the body to do a full dopamine drip and then some, the high is so profound that it’s relaxing the body so much that it’s also shutting down. It’s extremely close to The Euthanasia Coaster. Withdraw symptoms stay in body up to 6 months after last use. It is a bio chemical reaction. At this point, morphine is just Tylenol.

This is tranq dope concoction by the way. Fentanyl doesn’t make you do this. Xylazine does. Addicts didnt ask for this shit. Remember. Most got addicted during the opiate crisis doing professional pharmacy made pills. The shit going on today is night and day from that.

The synth opiates aren't fun, they're addictive. Normal people without training will get hooked by a doctor's prescription, it's chemical warfare.

It’s because it releases high amounts of dopamine and is 50 times stronger than morphine as a pain reliever

Agree. Ive had it as a sedative for medical procedures & thank God my mom was with me bc after I woke up I can't even remember my own name much less anything the doctor tells me for about 45 minutes afterwards.
