They’re missing “diversity “

Singaporean here. We have several things that contribute to our safety. 1. Enforcement and consequences Rules are enforced and justice is dished out. We have zero tolerance for drugs and violence. Some sentences for serious offences include caning that leave scars and all strokes are dished out in one sitting. The death penalty applies for drug traffickers and murderers. 2. No Comforts in Prison No beds, no mattresses and no privacy. You sleep on a straw mat. There’s a camera in every cell. You get a squatting toilet. News from the outside is limited. No air conditioning. You will have to endure the hot and humid weather. This is to deter people from breaking the law and ending up in prison. 3. National service Men are required to serve the nation for 2 years and up to 40 days for the next 10 years. This adds to the manpower available for the police force to deploy. Additional men can recalled and deployed within 2 hours if needed. 4. Surveillance and public trust We have a lot of cameras around the island that is used to track down criminals and the public are willing to report any suspicious or dangerous activities. Our officers exercise restraint when attending to cases and use their words first. Am I missing anything?

Probably high standards and they’ll lock you up for spitting on their streets. I admire their firm grip to normality… The west is absent of this level of desire for its own.
