Blind and visually impaired people can use a mobile phone. thy can use a voice-activated phone. A voice-activated phone allows the blind and visually impaired to make calls by saying the number or name of the caller out loud to the phone, instead of having to dial the number manually. They can use a screen reader. A screen reader is a software application that reads out the text on a phone screen. they can also use a braille display. A braille display is a device that translates the text on a phone screen into braille.

Just like to point out, she could be similar to a friend of mine. He is “visually impaired” and uses a white stick with the ball on the end to “feel” the ground as he walks as he can’t see below the eye line. He is able to read his phone as the font is on large.

To be fair you don’t have to be fully blind for this stick you can be visually impaired and most phones can be adaptable for larger fonts etc I know this as someone who’s worked in the health & social care sector and have seen it first hand - that may very well be the limits of her sight

The red bands on her cane indicate she is visually impaired as well as hearing impaired.

Very few people registered blind are without sight. Colleague has chronic tunnel vision. He can use his phone and screen at work. Outside, he uses a white stick to feel the boundaries of his vision. Not everyone is on the blag.
