Schmidt says he worries about AI “over everything” yet remains an optimist. That mix is common. What’s more striking is that Anthropic researchers just stated they believe there’s a greater than 10% chance AI could kill all humans within a decade and they still don’t have a plan for aligning superintelligence. Optimism is fine; treating the risk as optional is not.
