Nick Saban walked up to the interview podium after practice one day. “Okay, y’all ready for a lecture?” he asked. What followed was a powerful lesson on entitlement and doing your best. Saban on the Importance of Nothing: “Let’s talk about the importance of nothing. You get up every day, you’re entitled to nothing. Nobody owes you nothing. “You have talent, but if you don’t have discipline, you don’t execute, you don’t focus, what do you get? Nothing. “If you’re complacent and not paying attention to detail, what does that get you? Nothing. “So, nothing is acceptable but your best. “Everything is determined by what you do and trying to be your best. There should be nothing else but that, for everybody. “That’s what we need to stay focused on. We need to not accept anything but our best in terms of what we’re doing in preparation.” – It’s a simple, but profound message. Some key takeaways: 1. Entitlement is a disease. It stunts growth and erodes culture. 2. Success has a one-day life cycle. Yesterday doesn’t dictate today. 3. Nobody is owed anything. When your feet hit the floor in the morning, it’s on you. 4. Talent matters, but it’s far from all that matters. 5. The actions you take drive success. Talent only amplifies those actions. 6. Even the best can’t afford complacency. There are competitors trying to defeat you every day. 7. If you’re entitled, the biggest competitor is yourself. 8. If you’re owed nothing, that means nobody else is either. Therein is your opportunity. 9. You can have the best strategy, the best business model, the best talent and … none of it matters if you don’t execute. 10. There are no guarantees. Relish the unknown. ||| Hope this is helpful. Follow me Teddy Mitrosilis for more writing. I also write a weekly newsletter on the process of improvement →

Ten games into my senior year at Mississippi State — about a month into the season — and I still hadn’t pitched. The previous year, I logged only 4 innings. I spent the entire fall and most of the spring preseason dealing with an injury, and quiet frankly walking on thin ice on even staying on the team, if you’re not able to be productive in any way you’re gone, that’s how the SEC works, & I knew everything would have to go perfectly for me to even have a shot. This is something young players at any level should pay attention to: what to do when you’re not playing much — and how to handle it. During that time, I worked relentlessly. Every day, I prepared like my opportunity was coming tomorrow. I knew that when my name was called, I needed to be ready — not just ready to pitch, but ready to prove I belonged in the SEC. Then it happened. We were up 19–2 at Tulane in the 9th inning. They told me to get hot. I treated it like Game 7 of the World Series. I went out there, went 3 up, 3 down, 3 strikeouts. My stuff was sharp. After the game, Coach made a comment in the team meeting about how locked in I looked. He noticed. And that was all I needed. Fast forward 24 hours — we’re in a 4–4 game in the 7th, bases loaded, two outs. He puts me in. Surprised? Maybe others were. I wasn’t. I had been preparing for this moment for two years. I got to a 1-2 count and I got a flyout to right. From that point on, I went on to lead the team in ERA and appearances out of the bullpen. It became the best season of my career. The takeaway: always be ready. You don’t know when your shot will come. But when it does, you can’t afford to be surprised. You’ve got to be prepared — mentally, physically, emotionally — like it’s the opportunity you’ve been waiting your whole life for. If I hadn’t been locked in during that 19–2 game and shown Coach what it meant to me, I may have never gotten another chance. Make the most of yours. If you’re not there yet, don’t give up. Keep showing up. Stay ready. Your moment’s coming. I’ll attach a few clips of the game that changed my career.

My app just hit $7k/m. I'll hit 10k/m before I quit my job & fly to vietnam 🇻🇳 This is how I did it. Part One: The App. 1. Built an iOS app. 2. Found a validated niche. 3. Improved upon existing apps. 4. Read reviews to see pain points. 5. Improved everything: UI, onboarding, features. 6. With AI and good taste it's so easy to win. 7. You can build beautiful & useful product in a week. 8. Stack: Native Swift & RevenueCat. 9. Pricing of 7.99/w, 14.99/m and 49.99/y. 10. Typically weekly + yearly combo is good. 11. Adding monthly increased my conversions. 12. This will vary by niche: see what competitors do! Part Two: Apple Ads to 1k/m. 1. Used the $100 free credits to get data! 2. Measured my onboarding & paywall with posthog. 3. Already had 70% onboarding completion. 4. Reduced all friction: got it to 85%. 5. Ran AB tests using remote paywalls. 6. Kept everything compliant with Apple guidelines. 7. Achieved 8% install to paid. 8. Split campaigns by territory groups: US, AU, TH etc. 9. Used competitor names as strict keywords. 10. User searches for competitor: • My app way better so they download mine instead. 11. This relies on a really good app store page. 12. Mock up screenshots in Figma then enhance with AI. 13. ChatGPT Image-2 is free with Codex. Part Three: Scaling to 7k/m with Tikslop. 1. Scrolled in my niche, found organic viral posts. 2. Remade them myself: film with friends or use AI. 3. Seedance 2 mini is the best ROI video model I think. 4. I made ~8 formats, ~15 creatives. 5. Give each creative $50 of spend. 6. After $50, if CPA LTV then stop spend. 8. LTV is hard to calculate. You can ask Rico. 9. Better for me: Aimed for profit on first transaction. 10. This is simpler & more ambitious. 11. Expect to burn at least $500! Part Four: Scaling Ad Spend (The Big Leagues) 1. If the CPA is staying consistent. 2. Increase spend by < 30% each time. 3. My advice: ~15% each time. 4. 50, 60, 70, 90 etc. 5. Performance can be volatile. • Yesterday I made ~$170, a small loss. • A few days ago I made ~$600, big profit. 6. Measure averages over time. Remember: there are infinite ways to win, this is mine. It took me about 3 years to make a successful app. Winning is simply losing on a long enough timeline.

This is where a lot of tech professionals landing 6-figure roles actually get hired from. Not random job boards. Not even the usual “Easy Apply.” Here are 8 platforms that are genuinely high-signal for UX designers and tech professionals looking for fully remote roles. I also broke down what makes each one stand out, and how you should use them properly. 1. Wellfound (AngelList) URL: How to win here: Build a profile like a landing page (2 to 3 outcomes + 1 niche). Filter by salary range + stage. Apply to roles where your portfolio matches the product type. Message founder/recruiter with 2 lines: relevant proof + quick question. You will also need a USD account to receive salary, go to Cleva (YC W24) and open one. Best level: mid to senior (junior can still get something here with strong case studies). 2. Otta URL: How to win here: Set preferences tightly (role, level, industry, remote rules). Treat it like “high quality, low volume”: 3–5 strong apps/week. Tailor your first line of CV to match the job’s problem space. Best level: junior-mid to senior (works for all, but best when your profile is clear). 3. Y Combinator Jobs (Work at a Startup) URL: How to win here: Apply to roles where you can show 0→1 or growth-stage wins. Add a short “Operating style” section in your profile (collaboration, scope). Follow up off-platform (LinkedIn/email) with a 3-sentence note. You may also need a USD account to receive salary, go to Cleva (YC W24) and open one. Best level: mid to senior (but juniors can land roles in smaller teams with strong proof). 4. Himalayas URL: How to win here: Set location/timezone filters correctly. Save searches + alerts for your niche (e.g., B2B SaaS, fintech). Apply within 24 - 48 hours of posting when possible. Best level: all levels. 5. Remotive URL: How to win here: Filter to “worldwide” only if you truly can work globally. Don’t apply without rewriting your top 3 bullets to match role keywords. Pair every application with a short “proof note” (1 case study link + why). Best level: mid-level + seniors, but juniors can win with tailored apps. 6. We Work Remotely URL: How to win here: Apply fast (same day if possible). Use a “1-minute cover letter”: 3 bullets (domain match, proof, link). Only apply when you match 70%+ of requirements. Best level: mid to senior. 7. Remote OK URL: How to win here: Use strict filters (role + seniority + benefits). Ignore anything vague (“rockstar”, no salary, unclear company). Treat it like lead gen: apply + then research and follow up elsewhere. Best level: mid to senior. 8. FlexJobs (paid, but filtered) URL: How to win here: Only pay if you’ll apply consistently for 30 days. Use advanced filters and avoid anything without clear employer info. Cross-check listings on the company’s careers page. Best level: junior to mid (also useful for career switchers). You will need a USD account to receive salary, go to Cleva (YC W24) and open one. If you find breakdowns like this useful, Follow for more, I share more of them here. Don't mention.

Finally got around to fitting the NAKAMOTO MINING ™ ⛏️ $kas fan shroud on my KS3. As most ASIC miners know, these things are LOUD. They’re not something you can take home, plug in, and leave humming away without destroying everyone else’s sanity! Enter fan shrouds. They are game-changers, allowing you to take your existing miner, attach a shroud and an 8” fan on the end, and enjoy near silence. There is a range of different fans you can buy, but the one I usually go for is the AC Infinity S8. Cheaper options are available, so it’s best to research what works best for your budget. Lastly, you’ll need fan simulators, which are small devices that trick the miner into thinking the four large fans are still attached. This is important because, by default, the miner will not start if it doesn’t detect them. Depending on the model of miner you’re using, you’ll need to research what is most appropriate for you (more on that later…). Parts: 1x Fan Shroud 1x 8" Fan 4x Fan Simulator's 1. Unscrew the four large fans. 2. Remove the top cover. Disconnect the four large fans and connect your fan simulators. 3. Screw the rear/front shrouds into the existing holes on the ASIC using the provided screws. 4. Connect the 8” fan and use the metal clamp to secure the shroud onto the fan. (I usually place the fan at the rear of the unit in a ‘push’ configuration.) 5. Voila! I would honestly rate this a 2 out of 10 on the difficulty scale and encourage anyone with an ASIC running at home to consider this modification. It’s especially worthwhile because it is fully reversible if needed. Note: My earlier comment on choosing a fan simulator based on compatibility was a bit of foreshadowing, as once I booted up my KS3, I discovered that neither of the fan simulators I had on hand (No brand simulator and Njord Cloudline Simulator) worked with my miner. If anyone from the Pivotal Pleb Tech team can confirm if your NJORD-CL-V1-r1.0.0 is compatible with Bitmain's KS3, that would be awesome as I love your product. I have one on all my other ASIC miners! 😁 Anyway, in the meantime I'll have to revert today's install but as you can see - this really isn't difficult so if you're on the fence about doing this to your miner, I would encourage you to go for it!

In 2015, David Ulevitch (David Ulevitch 🇺🇸) sold OpenDNS to Cisco for $635M, now he co-leads the $600M AD fund at a16z "It took me 10 years to basically have my overnight success" With a hard-earned operator background David shares his 3 key lessons 1.) Magnetic teams win. 2.) Capital flows to magnetic founders. 3.) Government & enterprise customers require deep, long-term (non-transactional !!) partnerships. & how its reflected in their portfolio among big names like Anduril, Base Power, Radiant, Castelion, & more BTW - While at Cisco, David was Senior VP & GM of Cisco Security, a $2.4 billion annual revenue business w/ more than 5K+ team members . . . "1.) I think the first thing is it starts with team & talent. The best companies in our portfolio have the best performing teams. And you know it's very easy in venture to fall in love with an idea, but what really matters is like is there a team there that can execute? Can that team magnetically the best talent in the world and get people to come work for them? People love working for Brian Schimpf (Brian Schimpf) at Anduril (Anduril Industries), they love working for Palmer Luckey (Palmer Luckey), they love working for Matt Grimm (Matt Grimm). Like they they just they love that team and they're able to magnetically attract the absolute best talent. Chris Brose (Chris Brose) is probably the most in-demand person in the like the defense space today and he's worked at Anduril since the very beginning. You have to be able to magnetically attract the best talent and and every company we look at whether it's Base Power (Base Power) whether it's Saronic (Saronic) it doesn't matter, Radiant Nuclear (Radiant) they just become magnetic attractors of talent. 2.) The second thing is these companies are expensive & you know we've learned that they have to be able to magnetically attract capital.. And it sometimes it sounds dumb to say 'cause like we're investing in these companies so obviously they got capital but they need to be able to attract capital from other people as well. And we found that these companies are so capital-intensive & sometimes the curve to revenue takes a little bit longer 'cause you're doing manufacturing and doing all these other things. ..nothing matters more than the talent at the top the founders of the company. Can they magnetically attract capital? Can they magnetically attract talent? Those 2 things matter the most. And then I think what I've learned and I learned that in my own experiences, and you know it took me 10 years to basically have my overnight success ..and if I think about the years that were not that last night before we sold the company.. like the lessons I learned were like every time I had to change the way the company was operating.. it always started with talent. I had to change out the executive team, change out the leadership team that we had, at one point we were a consumer company, we pivoted to enterprise halfway through 5 years in and totally rebuilt the team. Because the kind of people that were building a consumer company were totally different than building an cybersecurity company. 3.) I think the last thing I learned that was really important, especially to help me set me up for the American Dynamism practice, is at Cisco, at that point I was running one of the largest cybersecurity companies in the world, and I recognized at Cisco that like when you sell to the government you need to have the people that know how to interface with the government, know how to sell the government. These are very very strategic sales processes. They're not transactional. Oftentimes the customer on the other side of the table is sometimes betting their career on picking your solution. The same thing is true now with government. When somebody who's a procurement officer, or a program officer, is betting on a defense startup to provide some solution they're really betting on their career in many cases to say like "I hope that Anduril or Saronic, or whoever, Castelion () can deliver this solution for me." And so I think you need to recognize & appreciate, and this is what I learned at Cisco that these partnerships are just not transactional. They're deep relationships. You're gonna work with these people for years on these complex large you know $10 million plus deals & I learned that on the enterprise side at Cisco I see it now over & over in the AD portfolio. I think those are some of the biggest lessons that that I learned talent & then really partnership with your customers."

There's been recent discussion on cloning methods and techniques, I figured I'd share mine, since I've done a clone or two at scale. Knowing what we all know about cloning different strains, and that they all root at different speeds, it's important to note that I grew 25 different strains in here. This was literally my job, I was their greenouse/mother genetics preservation/clone manager. X hostility has increased exponentially lately, so let's address it now. This post may hurt some people's feelings, may cause some anger and a little controversy(If that's you, search within), but I'm just relaying what I've found testing these things at scale, rather than going off of anecdotal instances and remembering what I did(or someone lese) with 10 clones in my 4x4 tent off the top of my head, like many do here. Whether you do these procedures, or not, or whether you have problems, or not -is entirely irrelevant to this post. That's not to say your results aren't real, just that you came to your conclusion unscientifically. This is about other cloning methods, best practices, and this is showing what I've done that works. This was also 4 years ago, and they profited millions that year with high quality flower, so save those comments as well, they're moot. I also no longer work for, or are affiliated with, this farm in any way. We ended our relationship in early 2022, and I wish them the best of success in the future, and they still exist today. They were given the rights to all media and promotional material I filmed and photographed during my 6 years living on the farm, and I likewise have permission and full rights to use whatever footage I recorded there. The only company I'm currently sponsored by, is HardyGro, and their products won't be discussed here. Now, let's get to it. Please be advised, if your ambient RH is below 50%, you will not be able to leave the domes off for long at all. Use a mister to recover them if they wilt on you, and adjust these following procedures accordingly: Use Root Riot or similar rooting medium, other peat based cheaper mediums work well, too, but I found these work the best. 1. Wipe out your domes. If this takes several times per day in a greenhouse of thousands of them, so be it-get it done. You essentially eliminate any fungal issues that may arise with 24/7 100% humidity stagnant air. Remember, the clones are also absorbing water through their stems. 2. Days 1-3, 3 times per day, take the domes off, and wave the plants with it(or place them near a fan for at least 30 seconds). This ensures a thorough air exchange, which also prevents fungal diseases, and proper N,o2 and co2. 3. Beginning days 3-4, remove your domes for several hours at a time. By day 7, remove the domes completely. 4. And this is important - allow the cubes(in this case) to dry down somewhat, they will root faster. 5. Cut your lights back, and never place them in direct sun, they can't handle it. 6. CloneX reigns supreme, period. I tested it against Foop Cloning Gel, Olivia's and Technaflora. Out of 500 clones to test each product, retention percentages were as follows: CloneX: 95+% Tech. : 80% Olivia's: 45% Foop: 0% success. The Fooped clones also grew an unidentified greenish/orange fungus at the base of every clone, and they were all culled. Again, these were my results, at scale, this isn't a debate on what's best or what's cheaper. Maybe two more videos, and I'm outside for the day, enjoy your Sunday.

Send this to ANYONE on your team using AI agents with Claude/Codex skills: If I were you, I'd put your BEST AI skills in a GitHub repo, turn that repo into a PLUGIN, and have your team INSTALL it in Claude/Codex with auto update on. Why? 1. Everyone gets the same AI SOPs instead of 10 versions floating around Slack 2. When one person improves a skill, the whole team gets the better version. 3. New hires can start with your best workflows instead of a blank AI setup (this is a BIG deal). 4. If someone breaks a skill, you can roll it back with version control. 5. Personal skills can stay personal, while team skills become shared company infrastructure (and an asset!). 6. Your best AI processes stay with the company when someone leaves. 7. You can chain skills together for bigger workflows, like titles -> thumbnails -> descriptions -> YouTube publish. 8. You can track which skills are actually being used and delete the ones collecting dust. 9. You get less slop because the agent has real instructions, examples, taste, and process. 10. Your team moves from single-player AI to multiplayer AI. (thanks to AI with Remy | Learn AI for coming onto The Startup Ideas Podcast (SIP) 🧃) Watch full breakdown here (clearly explained): I don't know why I didn't do this before. The more I think about it, the more obvious it feels: your AI workflows should be version controlled company assets. It kinda feels like the difference between “we use AI” and “we actually operate with AI". Enjoy.

I got asked for my best pieces of career advice. 9 things I wish I knew when I was starting out: 1. "Swallow the Frog" This is one of the greatest "hacks" to get ahead early in your career. Observe your boss, figure out what they hate doing, learn to do it, and take it off their plate. Easy win. 2. Do the old fashioned things well. Look people in the eye, do what you say you'll do, be early, practice good posture, have a confident handshake. It sounds silly, but these things are all free and will never go out of style. 3. Work hard first and smart later. It's trendy to say that working smart is all that matters. Wrong. If you want to accomplish anything significant, you have to work hard. Work hard early—take pride in it. Then you can start to build leverage to work smart. 4. Don't do your best. Do your best is bad advice early in your career. Don't do your best, do what is necessary. Do what it takes to win. 5. Build storytelling skills. World-changing CEOs aren't the smartest in their orgs. They are exceptional at: (1) Aggregating data and (2) Communicating it simply & effectively. Data in, story out. Build that skill and you'll always be valuable. 6. Establish a reputation for figuring it out: Early on, you'll be given a lot of tasks you have no idea how to complete. There's nothing more valuable than someone who can just figure it out. Do some work, ask key questions, get it done. People will fight over you. 7. Dive through every cracked door. If someone cracks open a door that may present an opportunity, dive through it. 8. Build a personal board of advisors. The concept of “mentorship” has become too formal. Asking someone to be your mentor feels like a big commitment. Instead, build a Personal Board of Advisors. A diverse group of 5-10 people you can go to for questions, advice, or feedback. 9. Prioritize people and experience, not salary. A 10x better foundation-building experience compounds much more effectively than that extra $5K in salary. You should be compensated fairly, but not all compensation is monetary. Think long-term. Build the strongest foundation. *** The full video breaks all of these down in more detail. The rules, tips, tricks, and principles that will allow you to get ahead and stay ahead in your career. Whether you're just starting out or looking to reinvigorate your career path, these insights are crafted to help you win! Please watch and share so that more people see it! Full video here:
