I would love an Apple Vision Pro app that lets you easily create your own immersive environments. My grandmother is about to sell her condo which has been my favorite place to visit since I was 3 years old. Many happy memories and it would be wonderful to preserve... show more

maybe try photogrammetry scan, and record some room tone / ambient sounds, a Panorama that you can edit into a latlong HDR for lighting. Or an image + fspy. It isn't easy, but with apps like @Polycam3D it isn't bad. I used similar techniques to record my sister's wedding in 6DOF.

@Polycam3D What about the cars and ocean movements?

That looks like the perfect spot. I would love to have this feature too.

Get the data while you can. The software will come. Take as many photos & videos as you can, photogrammetry style. If the sound is important too, record that with the best quality microphone you can (ambisonic if possible) 9/10 chance you'll be able to rebuild it later.

Capture spatial video with an iPhone 16 or better. I’ve been doing that for similar reasons on family vacations, etc. for a while now. Not perfect but it works.

You can capture any space with a 3D camera and view it as a Gaussian Splat on the @Meta Quest today!

This is the kind of thing that giving developers raw camera access would enable. It'll be possible on Meta Quest and Android XR soon.

that’s totally a spot worth taking spatial video of it’s not perfect in any sense, but it’s pretty damn incredible for nostalgic scenery and probably one of my favorite features still so far

Wow, that’s so beautiful.

Polycam is a good approach

Photogrammetry is your friend for this.

this has been something i've thought a lot about with my many photogrammetry projects. but you have to consider these 3D models have to be interoperable. could you imagine if your high fidelity memory of your childhood home was locked to vision pro?

(i own vision pro) my anxiety would absolutely never let me wear that clunky ass headset with an external battery dangling from a cord, on top of a roof

That’s one I animated since the announcement of AVP. It seems it would be a no brainer. You should be able to walk through wherever with the AVP (or maybe even a phone with spatial recording) and then be able to explore it again in your Vision Pro. Imagine going to a museum and looking all around and then having that forever as not just an environment but a whole building you can walk through and enjoy.

Or at work. Example a hospital, fabric with Boring enviroments. Builts up a rainforest in same enviroment. The work can be a wellbeing place.

Spatial video now if you have a 15 pro or up model and on Apple Vision Pro in the future when it hopefully becomes affordable for everybody

Working on it

Spatial mode on the 15 ProMax and up.

Perhaps you could get some advice on what type of capturing NOW would be the best for LATER possible processing to such an environment. Perhaps a 4K 360 video?

It's actually an idea I had a long time ago, before Vision Pro, but now it totally makes sense.

That sounds like such a beautiful idea! 😊

Doesn't gaussian splatting already allow for this? I'm sure there are good phone apps for it already.

@tim_cook

Lol this reminds me I once recreated both my grandmother homes inside Rec Room... the geometry of the interiors from memory was ok, texture replacements were good enough, but neighborhood I decided mainly fantasy today you just need a camera and photogrammetry

Hyperscape on the Quest is crazy impressive. It allows users to explore photorealistic 3D replicas of real-world spaces, providing an immersive experience that closely mirrors being physically present in those locations. Unlike traditional 360-degree photos, Hyperscape offers fully explorable 3D environments where users can move freely. The Vision Pro definitely could use a similar type app.

I am a developer, I hope you can support my application [Noc Nok], thank you
