HODGES: I love waking up every morning and seeing smoke coming from Russian oil terminal, or bridge that’s been hit, or Russian convoy vehicles on fire. I love seeing pictures of Russian tourists in Crimea who are amazed at what’s happening. They can’t believe this is happening. To me, this just shows that Russian government has not been honest with its people about the true state of the war. I mean, who would take their family to Crimea for a summer holiday in the middle of the war with everything that’s going on? So now, Russian population is starting to experience a little of what Ukrainians have been dealing with for years. It’s clear to me that the momentum has shifted in favor of Ukraine. It’s becoming increasingly obvious, even to skeptics who weren’t sure Ukraine could pull this off. I think it’s very important that both Ukraine and the West keep their foot on the gas and don’t let up now.

You can see it on Russian internet, in responses of Russian influencers. Critiques of Putin starting to bubble up. People are commenting, “Why aren’t we winning? Why aren’t we trying harder?” There are people talking about nukes again. That always happens when Russians are losing. There’s a sense of shakiness and instability. Putin has been trying to persuade Russians not to pay attention to the war: “It’s an inevitable Russian victory. We’re going to win sooner or later. We’re much bigger than they are. They’re not a real country. Their country is run by Nazis. It’s not a real government. And we’re going to win.” Now, it’s becoming clear to a lot of people, not just those near the front line, but in Moscow and St. Petersburg, that they are not winning the war.

rosé: I’m not joking but there were so many people online who would tell me what to do with the way i put my makeup on the way I was dressed in stage they would like harass my hair and makeup team online. those people are people i love and that work with me and that’s part of my team and those are my best friends too. but I’ve felt the ache where when people on online I feel like they know what they’re doing they’re really mean to them and that like affects me and they be like do this to your hair, do that to your hair, why are you not doing this and that.

And they don't want us to pay attention to that. That's why we have these antics. They want the story to be ridiculous. The more we're talking about that, the less we're talking about the true culprit, which is climate change, fossil fuel burning. And we have an administration whose environmental policies and energy policies are literally being written by the fossil fuel industry. So why would we expect anything different.

🐿️ as a build up (towards trying to live in patterns i haven’t lived in before), i feel like in the k-pop scene, you can’t just do it with music 🐿️ no matter how good you are, people need to know who you are, they have to have heard you somewhere to decide whether or not they’ll listen to more from you 🐿️ that’s why even with my solo variety show…it coming out because you guys were waiting for my content is about 60-70% of the reason and about 30-40% is to show who i am as a person 🐿️ when i do variety shows…variety shows are still difficult for me so i used to rely on the members a lot, on soobin & beomgyu 🐿️ i’m good at things like interviews, i can confidently say that i’m the one that’s good at interviews because i have firmly have something on my mind and i’m not someone that has a hard time expressing that in words…in words? in sentences. so those things are really fun to me 🐿️ but it’s not easy for interviews to be known externally because they’re not like variety shows 🐿️ of course our moas watch it, and i’m really grateful for that. moas watch it and go “ah they said that~” but if you’re not (a moa) then you wouldn’t know 🐿️ that’s why i’m been trying to put in effort into that aspect as well

Most of upper class in Moscow and St. Petersburg, they're not going to suffer. We see all these videos of Russian people crying because their holidays have been ruined. So, they're as spoiled as anybody else. 90% that are not in upper class or upper middle class, they're good at suffering because they've never had it any better or anything good. People who are counting on Russian people being able to just endure more and more, I think, are misreading the actual situation there. Russian people are starting to wonder what the hell is going on. They will either get really mad and do something about it, or they will put pressure on government to stop the war.
