I remember my father would throw us all in the truck (once with a helping basset hound) and he’d drive like a maniac for a half mile and he’d shove us right there under the bridge. You can’t outrun a tornado.

Actually this is what you are supposed to do if you want to live. Driving away you would have likely been sucked up into the air while in your car.

This is a joke. Very old video from the 90’s. In that situation, that’s the best you can do in the middle of Oklahoma. The overpass breaks the suction of the Vortex to an extent that it’s the only safe place to be.

You can’t outrun a tornado, it can pick up your vehicle like a twig, especially an EF 3 or 4.

Yes this is what we were told to do in the past, understandings change and it’s now known wind speeds increase dramatically under the structure.
