turn this into a roguelike slop with a shop and features to manipulate the roulette and other minigame shit please thank you

Wait amazing idea

if you do this i want to pay to play it pls

@IceSolst I think what you want is called free to play pay to win..

@IceSolst no, i want to support the developers.

Oops kernel should have technically been pid 0 (or init pid 1)

Adding a shop @ErenBlackEdits

Was gonna say a system properly managed with systemd can't be killed as it'll just restart services, and init will only receive signals it wants to receive (so root can't kill an init without a termination handler), until i saw it land on "the kernel lmao"

Yeah I think it’s overall unlikely to actually crash the whole machine, depends on # of total processes, maybe easier in a container I’d probably add a bunch of fake processes, some of which somehow force a kernel panic

This is hilarious! 😆 It reminds me of psDooM, a DOOM game where, when you take out demons, processes running on your PC are also terminated. 💥 I blogged about this “game” (or “consensual malware”?) back in 2009.

lol good post, you also mention Lose/Lose Maybe I’ll release this and hope it gets detected as malware. Life achievement.

Could it theoretically end up killing itself, thus saving the system?

Yes but low probability

@L33tH4xcyber It's literally as likely as any other singular process (?)

@IceSolst Yes but there are many processes which if killed could be catastrophic.

You invented Windows 98.

Someone do a wellness check on Dave Plumber

who

Hey, it manages just like my manager

lmao i love it

How are you so good at this

Reminds me of psdoom

Sounds like windows 11 with fewer steps.

Please make it cross platform.

Yes obligatory

Does it include its own process in the roulette?

Yes but haven’t decided if I want to allow a graceful exit or sink the ship with it

It should take every process down with it.

The kernel.

Thank you

I love it

this is why I run a sacrificial chrome, the statistical likelihood of you hitting any other process before the heat death of the universe approaches zero checkmate

this is peak engineering

Where can I download the unsigned binary that I can just blindly try on my production PAW?

Not released yet but soon

You should call it Solitaire.exe

Solutions to problems ❌ Solutions that create problems ✅

Is there any way this permanently bricks the computer? Cause I’d try this lol

No, can’t imagine permanent damage, a restart should resolve any issues from this

@MartinShkreli now make a PID_WRAPPER that automatically starts a new instance of any process that receives a forceful kill signal (hoping the new process restores state on its own automatically & recovers itself). Tools in combination can be used to test resiliency and state recovery.

@MartinShkreli Easy: just kill Task Manager

Masterpiece!! 🤣

Some people just want to see the world burn

You joke, but a production server should be robust to this

will it kill itself?

Lmao awesome.

incredible tech

@banteg Hopefully you have a full testing suite. I wouldn’t want my system to accidentally continue working.

Kkkkk

Fuck yeah, I'm game!

LMAOO
