Noble is officially leaving the Cosmos SDK. This is both a setback reinforcing the current negativity - and a wake-up call & real opportunity for ATOM. After nearly 3 years on the Cosmos SDK, Noble is migrating to an EVM-only L1 built on the commonware stack, with mainnet launching on March 18. IBC support is expected to remain active post-migration. Noble was early to the stablecoin thesis and highly anticipated in Cosmos, especially after Terra’s collapse, when UST had been the primary source of stablecoin liquidity in Cosmos DeFi. Having processed $22B+ in volume, issued nearly $250M in native assets, and powered a significant share of IBC stablecoin flows, Noble’s exit is a real hit to Cosmos mindshare. The security of the hydrocarbon supply chain is currently being tested. Since that conversation in May 2023, there is 20% less oil and liquified natural gas on the market, and the price of Brent crude is 40% higher. As a consequence the cost of everything we touch and consume is escalating at an alarming rate. Gulf countries play a more vital role than ever in ensuring energy security for the prosperity of all.
