Florida State Immigration Enforcement Council is sending letters to all law enforcement agencies saying cooperation with ICE is mandatory Immigration checks must become a mandatory part of every officers everyday duties throughout the entire state Any officers not going this are not complying with state law Florida law requires All county sheriff’s departments must enter into agreements with ICE to allow trained local officers to perform immigration enforcement functions - Honor ICE detainers: Comply with federal immigration detainers for individuals in custody - Share immigration status information: Provide data on inmates and detainees to federal authorities and report encounters via the state dashboard - Use best efforts to support federal enforcement - Routine immigration status checks: Incorporate checks as part of everyday policing including during lawful stops, bookings and more - Monthly reporting: Submit data on immigration-related arrests/encounters to FDLE and the state dashboard - No sanctuary policies: Prohibited from restricting cooperation with federal immigration authorities - Cooperate during investigations: Assist ICE with access, information and enforcement actions
